Insurance + swapped cluster = ?
Insurance + swapped cluster = ?
I got rear-ended today and will have to bring the car into the shop to get it fixed.
I'm worried that they'll refuse my claim (or even cancel my policy) since my cluster (including odometer) is not original, I bought it on ebay (installed myself).
Does anyone work for an insurance company or have any previous experience in such a case?

im assuming if you got rear ended you got hit by someone else. and that you're claiming from that person's insurance company, so i dont think they have the right to cancel your policy. Its also highly unlikely that they will hassle you because of a swapped cluster.
if anything, dont say anything unless you're asked.

Its not your fault. All you need to do is get an repair estimate from any autobody shop then fax it over to there insurance company and wait for the check in your mail
(What cluster? What speedometer?) Exactly!!
we have a no-fault insurance model here, meaning that your insurance always covers damages to your car, no matter who's at fault... the only difference is that if i were at fault, i'd have to pay the first 500$ of the repairs.
the cluster works in mph (odometer is in miles) but i made my own gauge faces which are in km/h
they asked for the mileage on the phone which i know... (current mileage minus original mileage on the cluster , convert to km, add to original cluster km) but the current cluster is displaying much less than what I declared
thanks for the replies guys

Highly doubt they will bother you, but in case they do. You just let them know the "truth". You changed your cluster because it was broken and the one you were able to get in your price range shows the US miles instead of Km.
p.s. let the garage know about the swap so they don't write your miles as Km on the paper!
