white or silver was probably the best choice for these cars...as much as I love eletric blue, I wish I had settled for the white

I dunno if it makes a difference but my car came with the paint protection from the dealer and I have 15000 kms and I have a couple rock chips but nothing more than would be considered normal.

Maybe that did make the difference.

Chips

I've gotten at least significant chips that are down to metal on front and at least one at back panel on driver side. Flaps go on this weekend. I'm going to look into clear bra but i've never had this kind of problems with the paint on any of my other cars.

Picked up touch up yesterday from dealer for $14. I wonder how many sticks they used to paint my car at factory.

It wasn't too bad - but keep in mind just applied for the first time on Sat. My chips were fairly large... after i got paint flowing just tapped it gently in middle of chip and it basically filled the chip area (chips were on vertical surfaces but it still filled chip). I let it dry for about three hours and then put clear coat on (opposite sides of the pen).

Not sure if I let it dry long enough or not - but it seemed to do the trick. It's not a "perfect" job - but from more than a couple of feet you can't see the chips now.

Post your scratches!
It appears from the clearcoat scratches that something abrasive has come in contact with the paint. You don't go through brush type car washes or use the brush (intended for wheels only) in manual spray washes do you? I see people hear using them on new BMW's and it brings tears to my eyes. Those brushes keep the dirt in the bristles which in turn scratch your clear coat that's why you see so many new cars with swirl marks in the clearcoat as people just don't understand. Use only a sheepskin or synthetic mitt if you have to come in contact with paint during washing.

I just use the high pressure soap and rinse then dry it off with one of those Chamois things.

Sorry to hear that

My car had little knick knacks on a brand new car so the dealer said they will cover the charges to get the scratches out and let me tell you, this guy did the work right off our driveway.

He is completely mobile and travels all over ontario. His equipment such as compressor, heating equipment and paint mixer fits right off his truck, its very convenient because he comes to you rather than dropping off the car and leaving it at a garage shop for a day or two.

I was skeptical at first because I was worried with the kind of work but he did an awesome job. From the prep work, to priming, wet sanding, heating, base coating, the pearl and clear coating it, yes the black on the 09 lancer consisted of about 6 different color combinations and 2 types of pearl. It actually looks more of a purple tone on a bright sunny day. love it!

Check him out, his name is Kevin and his contact info is right off his site:

http://www.paintforce.net/

Ask him about the Black Lancer he did last week.
Cheers!

oh by the way for paint chips or stone chips, don't apply the paint pen directly to your car especially if its a small chip because it will leave a noticeable blob, as an alternative, dab a little paint on a plate and use a toothpick to apply the paint, just eyeball and using enough paint... if you need to, you can wet sand in between (once dry) and use a 200 grit and 800 grit after. apply another coat as needed
