B.C. evo roll call
I've heard both good and bad stories from the local tuning shops. For evo's I'd rather just get an email tune sent in from English Racing. Less of a hassle and they know their 4G63s better than anybody in the Northwest.
Some hurdles and personal terror involved in this idea. I like it!
Who the deuce has a cable and maybe the know how to pull this off in the area? I'll buy
! Or y'know...it being B.C. 'n all.
Why yes sir, I am local. And I appreciate your willingness to kelp me out. I'll be home in a couple of days and get in touch with these English Racing characters and find out stuff. If what they say is what I wanna hear you'll find out cause I'll be crying for a cable!
Seriously, thanks you guys!

hahahah...it is BC and all. Donovan, make sure you have all your power mods you would like to have done in the near future on before you get the tune done. ER won't disappoint you!

@Brendan - I didn't know you had a tune? :O
Yeah John and Brendan knows what's up since both of them own an Evo 8 and Evo 9 haha.
English Racing is the tuning shop I would go to. That's the one I wanted to tell you but forgot the name of it lol

I'm home. A zombie.
However based on what you've all just said I need to save up about...ooohhhhh...say...4g's for parts (this includes shipping) before a tune.
BLOODY HELL!
It might be cheaper to be a crackhead?

Honestly I'm a noob here so not 100%.
After much reading, I think to start shedding some weight. Lightweight pulleys n such. After that things get less certain. For 'safer' power it seems like internals. Cams, springs, valves? So if I do that I'd be retarded not to do intake/exhaust.And some bracing to stiffen things up and get a little crispier handling.
I'm terrified of blowing my engine, even more so that it'll run like crap, it seems as though mad bolt ons will likely do one of these.
Opinion's are more than welcome!

I wouldn't worry to much about shedding weight, it'd be good but shouldn't be your priority. It's not like you're driving a low horsepower NA car that would benefit greatly from weight savings. Cams are definitely beneficial for both 8s and 9s, but 8s generally benefit more.
I'd personally start off with basic mods, just get a turbo-back exhaust, lower intercooler piping, o2 housing, intake, and a manual boost controller. Throw those on and be sure to get a tune. That'll put you to atleast 330WHP
Handling wise you can't go wrong with a set of coilovers, bracing is good but not necessary. A lot of people waste money on strut bars and blingy parts like that, they don't make much of a difference...noticeable difference to me at least. If anything, get a decent set of coilovers. Stance GR+ or Fortune Auto 500 Series are good for lower end coils. For mid range you can't go wrong with a set of KW V3's or AST 4100s aren't as well known but are definitely great coils. Make sure to get spring rates that match what you're looking to achieve out of the coilovers.
Let us know if you have any other questions and hope to see ya around!
Cheers,
Brendan
I would be thrilled to meet!
Obviously you all would rapidly become annoyed by my endless stream of questions/inane chatter, but hey, why not!
I'm currently between rigs(right, Alberta oil) so will be around.
Aaaaannnnddd I got a couple 'o bucks to spend on apparently fuel pump.
Have been through the modding for dummies and 100 bucks at a time threads lots and blah blah blah. Of course this all leads to more questions.
THANKS FOR SAYING SPRING RATES!!! Blargh. Had barely gone down that road. lol
So yeah. I dunno. Mostly?
As it's going to be asked "what are your goals?" I'll mention.
350whp/tq seems reasonable for a start.
And a little handling better-i-ness. Though that may just be wheels.
Lotsa questions about track events. Not dragging though, not my bag.
