2008 Rear Bumper
I saw a 2008 EVO X for sale... and it had the rear bumper with the thicker cladding on it. When I looked closed it looked like the extra protection was actually grey plastic that was just placed on top of the usual EVO X rear diffuser. Can you remove that extra cladding the 2008 rear bumper has? What does it look like if you do take it off? Would it look like the 2009+ EVO X rear bumper?

I was wondering the same question earlier, so I asked the sales manager at my dealership. Apparently there are a crap load of screws involved to hold that extra cladding on the rear bumper, so if you remove it, you are gonna have a bunch of holes in the rear bumper.

ya its not screws.. they are plastic tabs that go through the bumper and held on with metal push over tabs... not really sure how to describe it...but i didnt see any screws. you can take it off, your just left with small rectangle holes

And for that plastic cladding, I'm actually not minding it anymore. It actually did save my *** in an incident I had in a parking lot.

^^ Haha you know it! Before when I first saw it, I was hating on it pretty bad. Then eventually I got used to it and tolarated it. Then after that incident, made me actually kinda like it! Totally be handy especially in Wal-Mart parking lots where people leave their carts all over the parking lot and one eventually nails your car. Unfortunately I think these rolling shopping carts have been nailing my doors instead.
