Daily driving evoX especially in winter

Let me add some context.
The plan was to keep my '10 Mazda 3 as my daily 'reliable' car and pick up a 03-05 VIII as the toy.

I found a nice 08 completely stock GSR that I can trade my mazda towards.
The Evo will now be my daily car, how have you guys found it driving daily?

Who puts theirs in the snow and salt?

regards,
Zac

Its actually a great car for the winter, although you need to make sure you clean off the salt regularly. the traction in snow is ridiculous when you have a good set of winter tires, i found that i can almost drive like normal, if it wasn't for all the other idiots on the road. If using it in the winter was scaring you away from buying it, dont be worried at all, you will be glad you picked one up.

Thanks man, I closed the deal tonight. Blue 08GSR. Hope to meet some of you guys soon.
Oh as for winter tires, any recommendations other than supre pricey hakkapelitas or blizzaks?
I'll check tires23 or go-for-tires unless you can recommend sometthing.

Regards,
Zac

congrats!!

as for tires, i have to say nothing beats a good set of blizzaks
i just picked up a new set of ws60's, and they are like driving on pavement when theres snow on the ground. but honesty you wont find any good deals north of the border. if you can, pack up and go for a quick road trip over the border. i ended up getting a quote here for 1700's at a local shop for my tires, and when i went down to the US i picked up my tires for 850. 120 later for mounting and balancing and im well on my way to buying a new exhaust system.

(ps if you can, call ahead to make sure that they have them in stock. winter tires in that size arent as common, so you might have to try a few places)

i'll be driving my 2011 mr this winter. and so far with the snow we've had here in calgary.. it's been flawless. turn that button to snow tc off s-sport manual and blow the ice off the roads! seriously there is sooo much traction it's rediculous! C300 4matic eat my snow shower!

It's been a blast to drive and honeslty more fun than my V70R ever was! and they are realllly fun in snow! so thats a major prop's out to mitsu fans!

My snow,gravel/mud/ice tire set up is

Kumho KW22 Only thing i wish is they had a slightly taller profile... but then again they have a fairly stiff side wall.. however don't let the stiffer side wall fool ya.. this tyre on dry warm pavement is slippery as a wool sock on polished hard wood floors. With Tungsten studds super soft big *** lugs.. this tire gets a lot of grip on gravel mud snow and ice.

next pic, at the mall with a skiff of snow
