Another vote for Nokian Hakkapeliitta. If you can run studs (we can't in the US), get the Hakka 2. They even make it in our size.

I had the Hakka Q (studless) on my AWD Eclipse a few years ago, and they were awesome. IMO, they kick the Blizzak's ***. I used them for two winters, and I drive a lot on the highway.

I have a set of Nokian WRs for my Talon this year, if I ever get it running again , but they're not the greatest for traction. They're a little more performance oriented (and quieter) than the Hakka Q was, and will probably last longer on dry pavement.

Its been unseasonally cold in Calgary this past month. Snow in Sept. is not unusual in western AB. I recall it snowing in July once too. I also remember playing soccer in 20 degrees above in Dec, LOL. Calgary weather is all ****ed up. Anyhow, my brother in law is the parts Manager at Crappy tire and I think he will be able to hook me up with their house brand 'Ice Tracks'.

Their not studable; it's pretty dry in AB. We dont see a ton of snow and I will most be using then within the city to go to work. I think a tire that has good tracktion on ice is the most important cause of snow removal.

Its a hard choice, don't want to get a great winter tire that will wear out within one or two winters. It doesn't snow that much in Calgary and we often see the temp go up because of Chinooks; the dam weather changes so fast here!! So I want a tire that will get good tracktion on ice and snow, but it has to last too.

I think that the Canadian Tire brand tires are made by Uniroyal?

Just thought I'd dig this up... I'm going shopping for winter tires this week, so I thought someone might be looking for advice.

Of course, as of now I'm still going with the Blizzaks... let's see if someone is able to interest me in something else. One never knows...

Not gonna get any winter rubber for the RA . Instead I picked up some used rims and Nokian winter for the old Hondu that someone had in the Bargin-Finder. Hondu will be the winter warrior.

The tires are in pretty good condition, the guy I got then of said he used then one year and are the studable kind. No studs yet though.

I'm still gonna have to use the RA this winter. Cause my girl will be using the Accord, but I also car pool and am gonna try to limit my RA's ice time.

Went to tireworks today. Saw some Toyos Observe G-02 Plus (195/65/15), tire looks great and the guy gave a good review on them. He is asking 130$ installed balanced and all that.

I just want to know what you guys think off that and is it a good tire.

Check their site out

Hey Jeff take a look at the Toyo observe G02+, I think its the same performance than the Blizzaks (I've experience both) with much more "durabilité" sorry for the french word.

For my winter tires I found a better way......none, because I'm gonna take my wife car during winter and garaged my little baby....by the way during this winter I'm gonna install RRM CAI, RRM axelback and paint my wheel in white...........so look out at the next meet "les gars".
