im trying to learn how to tune coz i missed Aaron when he went down to vegas last may! haha!

anyways, the underlined, bold and italicized words are true. It is an OTS map generated to run many cars. it is made rich so it wont cause any detonation or destruction.

i have looked at all evo x gsr OTS map by Cobb and they are all rich as hell. target AFR at load 320 is at 10.5

im just learning but im pretty sure everyone can see thats rich. too rich for me that i have to fill up every three to four days. Great thing about Cobb though, they give you Access Tuner Race so you can mess with the said maps on your own. KEYWORD: ON YOUR OWN.

I love Cobb though, thats why i havent sold my AP. The beta maps are fully functional and im pretty sure that the release will be the same thing as the betas since its doing really good. so if you are still hang up on using the beta maps, dont. just use the damn things...and post logs on the Cobb forum sites so they can fine tune the maps even more.

as for me, im using the AMS intake stage 2 beta map but its being tweaked by me as i have AEM intake instead of AMS and also i have 800cc injectors instead of stock injectors.

I'm just wondering and this may be overly simplistic but rich tune + adding an intake is good for a better AFR? That way you can make power and not kill your fuel economy altogether?

Not at all, they were released by Cobb, not some guy off the street. They've said numerous times the only reason they're still called beta is because the overseas versions aren't done yet while the USDM maps are.

You can technically run a Stage 1 map on a Staged 2 car with full TBE. You just have to monitor for knock.

Interesting.. The most modding my car will see is intake, IC Piping, and catback. I'm not wanting to tinker with downpipes, cats etc unless I go with a bigger turbo.t

In my Subaru days Cobb called this sort of setup Stage 1+ I see they have tunes specific to some intakes which I guess that would make the maps Stage 1+. My question is if they are better optimized both power and fuel then the regular stock intake maps which seem to give you a little bit more power but tank your MPGs.

Fail...

Still didn't I read somewhere on these forums an insider talking about how they got new software they are working with and are redoing the Mitsubishi maps as a result?

I think maybe the FR-S is based on their Subaru software or something like that which is their main customer base.

For now, some vehicles depending on model year have limited support, and some do not have any OTS maps and require custom tuning. It is not the best solution for sure, but we are working on bringing the EvoX community up to speed on all of our latest discoveries and strategies!

That being said, I know there is a lot of confusion about timelines, features, and promises. I apologize if it sounds like more "hurry up and wait", but do know that we have not left you guys and have EVERY intention of delivering the highest quality tuning solution for the EvoX/RA vehicles. It takes a lot of effort to put together the final product and a lot of testing and analysis behind the scenes.

I can tell you that we went back to square one with the MR and spent over 2 weeks analyzing the shifting strategies and patterns. We now have an overwhelmingly complete understanding of how the SST and ECU speak to each other and how they need to continue their conversation at higher power levels. Along the way we stumbled across a ton of useful things that we'll be including in our next release. We have spent a lot of time coming up with the ultimate solution for you all, and will be getting as much as we can to you as soon as possible.

We are committed to delivering a solution for you guys, and we'll continue to provide support for the entire community! Help is on the way!

Thank you,
-Braden @ COBB

That's great... but I have a GSR and the only shifting strategy involved is in my head not in some catchy acronym. That's why most (if not all) GSR owners bought GSRs.

Furthermore I'm concerned about the "communication" between corporate and community in this case which is basically nil and yes grapevine does not count. And then there is the issue of which customers (or community) gets served first but we won't go there again...

with that...

IMO the AP is a waste of money if you run OTS maps. You can get an etune from the best tuners in the US for the evo x for only 200-300 dollars. Then a retune is usually a fraction of that price. Why put a garbage tune (OTS) on a 35k-45k car?

Cobb has bigger fish to catch (Subbies mostly) so we are not there first prioty.

I'm going to agree with you. After my recent experience with the OTS maps I am less than impressed.
