Post Buying COBB ACCESSPORT for 2012 GSR - QUESTIONS

EDIT: SORRY GUYS thanks for all the answers but turns out i dont need the ap. i canceled the order on it since the tuner said i dont need it and they have their own system. thanks all

Hey guys I have 2012 GSR ready to buy a COBB ACCESSPORT.
First of all, my parts that I have are:
(1) - AEM Cold Air Intake
(2) - AMS Upper Intercooler Piping
(3) - Synapse BOV

Does COBB create a custom map for me when I purchase or would I have to get it professionally dyno tuned?
Also, do I always have to have it plugged in while driving?
It is also a daily driver
Thanks

Cobb has off the shelf maps, if u want one customized for u, u have to get it tuned by a tuner on the dyno, road tune, or e-tune.

No, it doesn't need to be plugged in while ur driving unless u want to use it as a gauge: boost, knock, etc.

Unfortunately, Cobb does not support AEM intakes. I have aem intake as well, and I scaled the intake myself.

if i just profesionally tune it, with the aem intake, will it still be okay or would i have to change my intake?

They got rid of the AEM intake maps? They used to have them - but that was a few years ago and I haven't really checked on the Cobb maps in awhile, obviously

get a custom dyno tune. depending where you are in CA, you can go to one of a few shops. IE Tuning Technolgies, Road Race Egnineerin, KT mortoring. give them a call.

No custom map, though they do have options for you to use of OTS maps. Possibly try the Stock box map and see if it runs okay for you.
Pro-tune is the best for you in this case thought, you will see more hp gains then OTS map would give you, plus it will be safer since it is tailored for your car. If you go to socal Cobb i believe you get a discount for buying the tune and AP together, but i may be wrong.
You can have it plugged in if you want to while driving, but you don't have too. It Nice to have it set up for a shift light or boost gauge, ect.

okay thanks a lot guys, before i do the tune, im thinking about getting a downpipe. do you think its worth it?
also do i need a turbo timer? (my first turbo car)
and I would be going to FFTEC if i were to tune my evo

My options for a downpipe are:
1) ETS
2) AMS

which to decide!?

With a protune, u can get any intake u want. The tuner will scale the intake for u. U can also get an e-tune if anything. Which part of Cali r u from? SoCal or NorCal? SoCal has Cobb, hbspeed. NorCal has RRE (I think).

AMS downpipe will net u power. Actually, any one piece downpipe o2 housing combo will net u gains coz it eliminates the donut gasket which is the biggest bottleneck, other than the cat converter.

Yes, u can still run stock exhaust since most exhaust systems made are incorporated with the stock system in mind.

Turbo timer isn't really needed. Just slow down and don't wot on the last 5-10 minutes of ur drive and u should be good.
