Hi guys,

Trying to tune my evo for a track event. Sometimes I see some knocks 1-3 right after I let go throttle after a pull. I know my setup is creating more noise than normal. Should I be concern about the knock after WOT? Suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

2008 Evo X
stock bottom end
GSC 264 cams, Carbonetic 4-puck carbon blade clutch (I think this setup is the trouble maker)
Garrett 3071R
ID1000cc injectors, AMS fuel pressure regulator Kit (set at 43.5psi)
COBB 255lph Fuel pump kit
AMS intake, intercooler and upper pipping.
all the exhaust bolt on, etc.

AFR is in the 11.1-11.3 range at 7000.

Car runs good with 23 psi peak boost, then hold at 21 range.

 

Do you have any datalogs showing the knock counts? If the knock is occurring as you let off it may just be noise reporting as false knock. Typically as long as the knock is not occurring under load it's not something to worry about. If you can send over a datalog or two we can verify all of that for you.

During the weekend, I installed AMS race front mount bushing. It did help the engine from moving back and forth too rapidly, and seems to help lower the knock a bit. Attached is two short runs (I trimmed the unnecessary datas), both in 3rd gear. I think clutch is still the cause for this random knocking. Please let me know your suggestion. If it's seems like phantom knocks, what I should do to change knock sensitivity so it doesn't decrease power from subtracting timing. Thanks.
