Whole lotta speculation, couple sites claim it is happening but just as many say maybe. Be sweet if they did bring it back on a smaller chassis than X.

Not trying to bash on the X's, but when Motortrend tested the IX against the X, the stock Evo X was slower in a straight line and on a track than the IX. The X's AYC was basically used to keep up with the 8 and 9's in a stock per stock form

The X has a more capable engine than the 4G63 though and when modified correctly is an awesome competitor.

anyway, i wonder if they will use the Megan Chassis, and Evo Drive train. That would be an amazing combo . I am sure Nissan/Renault/ Mitsubishi Evo would be something to buy
i am looking forward to see what they will cook up.
Megan and those FWD cars chassis like the SEAT is pretty amazing .
just look at this video the Factory SEAT ( sport version) is how fast! imagine that with more powerfull engine and EVo AWD....

I had a X. Ride was comfortable and responded well with basic bolt ons.
Now I have a IX. Ride is comfortable and responds well with basic bolt ons.
If I had to choose I'd go with the IX all day but this is my preference.
Do I miss my X? sure... I like cruise control and whatnot but now that I've experienced the 9, I can't go back.
This is of course daily driving/street talk. I don't have lots of track experience

Man I just saw the news. My X was the greatest car i ever had. Bumped it up to 333whp with a cf hood and it was the ****. Ended up selling it after 6 years n 55k miles bc of the expected cdiff issue and the awd issue that hit me at 50k. Went to 2015 STi and wasn't even close in terms of fun...hoping it makes a comeback

You must have forgot Evo X : AYC for quick lap times
Evo IX : skill and talent for quick lap times.
Not here to start a argument, if the 11 comes about I hope that it has the edginess of a 8 or 9, and the refinement of a X.
Magnetic ride control perhaps, to truly live up to the name :
EVOLUTION.
Evo IX : skill and talent for quick lap times.

I necro bumped you to poke fun at all your horrible inaccurate comments about the X, as you know dink about it.
SAYC was in overseas CT9A Evos, only the US got the privilege of being neutered of that.
In Lightning Lap on V.I.R.'s Grand West track, the fastest Evo is an X, not an IX. Skill and talent for quick lap times in an Evo VIII or IX? What a joke. Drive an analog RWD car. I laugh at the whole "refinement" thing. What is refined about an Evo X? Just because they finally got SAYC? Take your decade old fanboy comments to the IX vs. X thread. They don't belong here.
PS: You haven't been on this forum long enough to know anything about Evos.
On topic: Megane engine, Nissan chassis, Mitsubishi SAYC, and the possibility of an electric assisted engine? Yes please!

Yeah, X is just gnarly to drive fast. Have to be committed. It's not easy.

I'll probably get a lot of crap for saying this, but if they truly want to make an evolution of the next model. It needs to have electric assist motors in the rear. Having something like a 300hp engine with 2x 50hp electric motors on the rear helping push a 70% rear power bias AWD system would be banana's. Argue all you want about things not being "pure" no one can escape the fact the 100% torque immediately on the low end, and the turbo taking over at 3500rpm would feel amazing in an evo.
