Are 10s Possible???
The EVO hasn't been out very long in the United States yet has already done 11.5 on the stock turbo and no NOS. My question is, do you think the EVO can do a 10 second pass on the stock turbo and no NOS? This would be quite an achievement in my opinion, for I cannot think of many Japanese imports that can claim the same, with out some kind of dramatic weight loss.

Curt Brown is shooting for that goal. I think it is definately possible, however it will require some weight reduction and great driving. I'm sure Curt will be pushing the limits of the stock turbo.

No one has made a full-out drag car out of an Evo 8 yet. The TurboTrix car still has the entire interior except for the passenger seat, all windows, etc. Carbon fiber body parts, completely stripped interior, lexan windows, etc. can go a long way in reducing the weight. I definitely think its possible.

Well, it depends on what you qualify as a stock turbo, etc.. I certainly think its possible, but you have to put alot of time and money into optimizing everything including the turbo itself. You can make alot of HP without a giant turbo, but it takes time and experimenting.
A little bit of lightening, a good tune, and a fully optimized setup should be able get a run a click or two under 11 seconds..
I don't think you really need to completely remove the practicality of the car to achieve it, at least I don't plan on it..
also, when is a stock turbo no longer a stock turbo??

I think it's very possible to hit 10's with the stock turbo and no N2O. I have an RS which is already a good 100+ pounds lighter than your typical Evo. I actually weighed it the other night... 2980 without me in it! That's with no spare, no gas, and a Buschur 3" exhaust.
Without spending any serious money, 2800lbs is looking like cake. 2700 is also possible, but you'd have to shell out big bucks for carbon fiber body panels, lighter rotors, lighter suspension, etc. Not worth it. But with the 2800lb curb weight, drag radials, and 380-400whp on tap, I think I can eek out a 10.99 at Atco Raceway. Atco is known to be one of the fastest tracks in the country. I think it helps that they're open all year round, so I can make some passes when it's 40 degrees out this winter. BTW, I ran an 11.5 @ 119 with my S4 and it only put down 360whp on a Mustang Dyno while tipping the scales at a shade over 3200...
