Fastest Mirages in PR in both NA and TC

I would like to share some of our happiness from our board to the lancer guys.

http://home.coqui.net/rcnieves/NWpista001low.wmv
A bunch of fast mirages in PR. The vid has both the fastest NA and TC mirages, but it's a tad pixelated and grainy.

13.72

13.61 sec

his car

I do believe the fastest TC mirage is running at 28 or 30 psi.

This vid at 11.6 . . . he has gone at 11.41 @ 119.21.
http://www.prtc.net/~rstgoc/rafa/Vie....6@118_Med.wmv

It has approx 392.6 whp and 330.6 Ft/lbs torque.

"This is on a stock head, stock throttle body, stock cam, stock intake manifold. the only thing thats aftermarket on the head is his AROSPEED adjstable cam gear"

"1.8 motor
ROSS Forge piston 9:5.1
pauter rods
stock head
stock intake manifold
stock TB
microtech ECU LTX8s
4 MSD individual coil blaster SS
T3/to4e (60 trim 63 trim)
Tial wastegate (not sure if 36mm or 38mm)
750cc inj
255 walbro fp
external bosch fuel pump
moroso fuel filter
aeromotive FPR
Truck core IC (forgot which one)
2.5 IC piping
Aerospeed adjstable cam gear
ACT extreme 4 puck clutch"

You have to love the Puerto Ricans. They really don't give a damn about pushing their engines to the max. Too much of that Gasolina song, I think. But seriously, I have a few customers from PR and DR that place orders each year for parts to rebuild their engines because they blew something or another.

The NA dyno . . . the guy stated it's not recent.

Well, I'm guessing the mirage's weight has to be floating near the early CRX. Then, you look at the rpm band. It's so top heavy. No stock mirage ecu can hit the 7.4 rpm mark and beyond (max: 9200 rpm - his word).

If the lancer guys have mirage account for the board, his ride is in the "members forum". His English isn't great, but you can get the idea.

What's the NA set up running?

Can you tell me what the jagged red lines on the NA dyno are?

WADAD

Edit
I take it the 13 sec slips are the NA guy. Sorry just watched the vid only.

I'm getting conflicting info on his setup. There is a Spanish to English translation barrier on his end.

All the 13 sec clips for the red mirage is the guy. There is a silver one . . . don't know the person.

I'm assuming the blue is the baseline. The red is some tuning afterwards. It's so jagged, I'm assuming, because of his cam profile. It's a custom Crower. It's very violent when the power peaks . . . I can't really explain it or never really seen it, except for certain powerband within Vtec.

That's what I was afraid it was.

It doesn't seem like a good thing though does it?

I have to edit through his tech spec. He's "Red Dragon" on our board.

"C12 VP racing fuel
100mm domed pistons (ROSS - 12.5:1)
compression: 325 psi
shaved the cyl head (-115mm, very extreme)
3'' exhaust tubing & pipe
bigger injectors like the NATIVA: 3.4 liter/276cc
lightweight flywheel
Crower cam - custom
put car on a diet"

It's a part of it. The best that I can make sense.

"The car could rev up to 9,200 RPM, but its power peaks at 7,500 RPM. It runs with a custom ECU and an integrated chip."

I'm assuming that someone has deciphered Mitsu code and socketed it like those for EEPROM DSM ECU, ie more rpm.

"with those MODs i ran the 1/4 mile 14.46 @ 94.89 MPH WITH STOCK PISTONS!"

I have tried to ask him if he had sleeved the block like the below link, but he didn't really understand me, I'm assuming

http://www.powerintegra.net/services.html

If he sleeved the block in order to use 100mm pistons, G93 has 81mm bore while the G94 has 81.5mm. Of course, he could be mistaken and use the term wrong for custom rods giving him 100mm stroke.

Side note: Basing the compression tests that I had done for my RIP G93, my motor averaged 225-228 while other owners tested theirs at 213-220. The red mirage had about +100 psi over me.

http://www.slowgt.com/Calc2.htm

If he's using 100mm pistons, his car is approx 2.8 liters, using the above link!

"It doesn't seem like a good thing though does it"

I don't know. I haven't been inside a car like it w/ such powerband.

I have searched a bit again for the silver mirage in the vid, running 14.4@96mph (his best not in the vid itself). He's "Elvin Tek". I'm assuming again, and it may as well not be him too.

Here's his spec, and he's running an Electromotive TEC3 or TEC2. It's a standalone and able to use almost any stuff that normally won't run on our motor effectively. Again, he has better English, but I still have to edit to make it effective reading.

Quoted below w/ some edit
* = my comments

1 - PVC 3" Home Made Intake. (TB to Fog Light Area)

2 - Mitsubishi 3000GT TB (Fit Exactly in 4g93 IM)
(Another Option is Eclipse Turbo TB, Galant 2.4 TB)
*hasn't told us which one: NA or TC version or from what year.

3 - IM Ported in TB Area.
*Basically, port matching

4 - Head Work (Milling to .060, Ported and Matched to Gasket Intake Ports,
Exhaust Ports - Sanding to Polish, NOT PORTED. 3-Angle Valve Job,
OEM Springs. (Optional) - Euro Export 4g93 Titanium Retainers)
*must be a 97 cyl head. It's the only one that has adjustable valves.

5 - Eclipse Turbo (450cc) Fuel Injectors including Plugs with Electromotive Setup or Mitsubishi Montero Sport 6 Cyl Injectors (Green Top) with Apex S-AFC Setup.
*using standalone.

6 - 4-1 RPW 4g93 Header With 2 1/4 Mandrel Bent Focuz or Machiangli
Exhaust ) (Another Option is the HP Racing 4-2-1).

7 - Ajustable Cam Gear, AmericanCam camshaft Regrinded .412 LIFT
.270 DURATION (Another Option is WebCam or Crower Cams)

8 - Calibrate Valves 5 in Intake Valves, and 5 in Exhaust Valves for
this Cams Setup for Obtain Maximum LIFT and DURATION (OEM
Valves is 8-Intake and 12- Exhaust)

9 - THIS IS MY MOST IMPORTANT TRICK:
Civic Si 99-00 P30 Pistons STANDARD BORE (the same 81MM that
4g93 Block) (Another Option is P73 ITR USDM Pistons)

To FIT HONDA PISTONS on 4G93 rods :
Going to Machine Shop and Bore 4g93 ROD for slide the Honda Piston
Pin into 4g93 ROD and with this procedure, Full Floating is Required. )

*IMO, this is probably the best breakthrough info. Lancer guys can try to find +.5mm overbore pistons. I always knew it, but I was afraid of fitment issues.

10 - Fully Balanced Rods, Honda Pistons, Crankshaft with KNIFE EDGE and
Flywheel (OEM 15Lbs Flywheel is Perfect)

11 - Phantom Grip LSD with Green Springs.

12 - Electromotive TEC3 or TEC2.

13 - Power Steering Belt Eliminated for Drag.

14 - No Passengers Seats and Spare Tire.

15 - Good Sticky Tires- (I Like Yokohama A-520 185/60R14 Tires
at 19-20 psi.)

"The #5 in the Valves Calibration is the Valves Calibration with AmericanCam.
Calibrate to .005 (mm) in Intake Valves and .005 (mm) in Exhaust
Valves with GAP Valve Calibrator."

"With American Cam .412 Lift .270 Duration in all
Cylinder's, have 230 with Compression Gauge and Head
Milling to .060.

OEM 5g 1.8 liter Mirage's is 9.5:1 Compression Ratio

This Setup is Around of 10.??:1
The Exactly Number, I Don't Know."

"152WHP"
*last reported by him. His last visit on our board was Aug last year. I can try to contact him.
