First time at track, horrible times!

ok, i ran a 15.5 in el paso. i know, sad! but i think the times were wrong, another evo, good launch ran a 14.1 with a 3 in ehxaust and intake. remember this was my first time ever racing it. i just cant get the launch right. i went to 5k and slipped it, took WAY too long for it to grab. and when to shift, its completely stock so the power drops off at like 5.5k and so should i shift at like 7k? i got a ride in the other evo, it pulls all the way past redilne, he shifted at 7.5k! so yeah, now im really anxious to modify! in need of a job

ok first off stock or not..you should push it to at least 6.5 - 7k.. only because your turbo kicks in around that time. you shift at 5.5k your turbo is barely spooling. tha'ts why you ran so slow

Last time I checked, full boost is at 3500 rpm tapering towards redline.

Certainly not for me. My boost needle may start to spike at 3500, but I don't really start pulling until after 4k. The real horsepower isn't made until after 6k, and it doesn't peak until over 7k, so "full boost" or not, the Evo makes its money at the top end of each gear.

You have to share a timeslip for us to know what's up. How could you not know the mph? And did you only go once? Why?

What track is this? What are you seeing are bad drivers. Mid 14s on an EVO is not good at all. Even at notoriously slow Cal. Speedway stock EVOs should run mid to high 13s, atleast that is what I see.

Sorry to pick on you newbie, but there seems to be a lot of newbie haters and reading your past comments, you seem to be one of them. So I'm gonna call you out on your stupid *** comments. Really what tracks are you seeing these god awful slow EVOs. Yes I've also seen EVOs run bad times, when they f*ck up their launch or miss a shift, surely you can tell when that happends, can't you hater? Last couple of times I've been to the track, all the EVOs, and I do mean all have seen atleast 13s when they launch properly. To be honest with you, most Vipers I see, run low 13s, but you see, unlike you, I seem to be able to notice when a car has not been driven to it's potential.

Wait until winter or the end of summer and then go to the track again. The summer weather in Texas straight sucks, 90 Plus with 99% humidity. Not really the best conditions for drag racing a turbo charged car. It is just going to take some practice for you to get your times down. You should be in the high 13's with a stock EVO. If you have not already you should bust out on a MBC or EBC and get your car tuned for the exhaust and intake. You would see a huge improvement in your times. With just a TBE and a MBC you should be running high 12's.
