12.3@117 in Tucson (3100feet elevation)

Hi guys,

Last night was a blast at the track (Speed International Raceway,Tucson). There was 6 EVO's but only 4 of them ran and there was also a few STI's from guys that they hang with the EVO owners as well.

Just for the record, only six cars were running below 13's , out of these 6 cars 3 of them were EVOS.

Rays EVO:

FMIC,HKS cams, air filter, headers,MBC,fuel pump,3" TB,100 Oct custom tuned by Al (Dynoflash) and 75wet shot of NOS. Ran 12.3@117

We also had another Silver 03 EVO :

3"TB,MBC Air filter, exedy twin disc clutch, fuel pump, custom road tunning by Al DynoFlash, 75shot NOS 12.3@114mph

Last but not least my car 05 Silver MR :

HKS 264/264 Cams,3"TB.MBC,air filter, custom road tunning by Al (Dynoflash) I ran a 12.4@109.29. NO NOS

Al (Dynoflash) did a great job tunning our cars, 3 cars in the low 12's in Tucson(3100feet) is no joke.

There was a also STI that ran a 15.6@96 and a 14.9.

Wow... ray's 117 trap speed could put him easily into the 11's on a good track...

Those times are pathetic. im sorry but at 2700ft with just exhaust and safc i ran 12.3@111
This is also my first awd car and Im still learning. That car on the bottle should have went 11.5 all day long. I know its hard to drive a car with alot of power but there is a point where no matter what the car has to go fast because it just has that much power. I would be imbarrassed to post those times.

Chill dude. We are not all John Force like U. With his trap 11s are likely but not a given with a 1.7 60ft. BTW Track conditions matter the most and the heat is upon us so expect slower times until things cool down again. bTW with just an exhaust and SAFC your times are on the high end of the bell curve. Most with your Mods are fighting for high 12s. It appears that the newer Evos are alot quicker with that 10.5 Hotside.

I have a few theories about you running a 12.34@111.

a) You maybe forgot mentioning other mods?
b) When you ran your car it was very very cold and windy, specifically wind blowing from behind..
3) The track which you ran is slightly in a negative inclination
4) The measuring machine that meassure your times were a bit off.

Your trap speed and your times seems like exceptionally fast for just a TB and a AFC.
Your car trap speed is very high and your times are very low for that type of altitude.

Whiteevo311,

It was hard to believe you at first. I spent a few minutes searching in this forum and now I truly don't believe your times. I copied and pasted just randomly some of the mods and times from the average owners here in this forums that have EVO.
You said that this is your first time with a AWD, most of us had(5 or 6 AWD in the past) and we are decent drivers.
Please read my attachment and compare your times , then think twice about your car running a 12.3@111mph with just a TB and AFC at 2700feet and you being new to the AWD cars.

Here is goes:

Ultimate Racing 3" turbo back, AMS FMIC, AMS intercooler piping, AMS small battery kit, Blitz Boost Controller, TurboXS UTEC, MR BOV, HKS TT, K&N cone filter, ARP headstuds, Alkycontrol alcohol injection kit, Walbro 255 pump, Excedy Hyper Single Clutch, SS Clutch line, Auto Meter Boost, Vacuum, and EGT gauge

As for my part in this, the 12.83@106.3 with an S-AFC and stock exhaust was a bit on the high end of the bell curve, too, but I was also at 500' elevation, and it was 55 degrees with low humidity. I would not expect to gain 5mph with just an exhaust added to this, ESPECIALLY not at 2700 feet.

I have added a cat-back, MBC, and MR BOV, but I only hope to get 110mph...if I get that, I'll be extremely happy, but it's going to be hot this Friday with high humidity, so it's not likely. I'm pretty sure he hit that 12.3@111 on race gas of some sort, but with it being stock boost, it's still not likely. People with a lot more mods on 05s have gone much slower up there, and that's with lots of experience and practice. Either something is bs, or his car is some sort of freak. To do that with 2 mods, stock boost, high elevation, and no experience with AWD, it would take a modern miracle for him to legitimately achieve that ET/MPH.

track conditions were 80degrees and 20mph headwind actually. Not to mention firebird raceway in boise id is notorious for running slower times. Ive picked up 3mph and as much as 5 tenths going to woodburn or seattle international. There is two fellow evo owners on this website that can verify my mods and times and conditions. I do not lie and I dont know why my car is as fast as it is. i dont mean to critize cause its not my style but I think those times are weak.

One of the witnesses is a very reputable member on here, his screen name is, fre

Dont mean to burst everyones bubble sorry!!!

b) it was hot that day as he said
c) no, it is not in an inclination
d) no they arent off, another buddy with an afc/3" tbe/cams/mbc is running 12.0's @114-115 all day long
