E/T-MPH difference with the front windows down

Just wondering what the e/t-mph difference would be in the 1/4. Anybody tested this yet? G-tech numbers will suffice.

well, MIR made me run with my windows up I ran 8.1 @ 85 1/8 with just exhaust and boost. But at Old Dominion I ran the 1/8 about 1mph faster with the windows up than with them down, but I don't know if that's just better driving. It's very unscientific That day, though, all of my times were crappy...

Windows down:
8.3 @ 85
8.8 @ 84.5 (bad launch)

Windows up:
8.20 @ 86
8.20 @ 85.5

I haven't run the 1/4 yet with cams and stuff... Maybe I'll try this experiment

+1 on MIR... I think its also less drag on the car just like if you are on the highway with a.c. on and windows up rather than windows dow w/no a.c.

I think hard numbers are nearly impossible to gather do to driver inconsistancy as well as the car, but there will be a difference. I'd guess about a tenth MAYBE 2.

Eh... at least for OD, it's a pretty big hillbilly 1/8th mile. You're only trapping 90mph at the highest. Of course some of the bikes were trapping almost 120 in the 1/8th!!!

I wouldn't run the actual 1/4 with my windows down, but it's an interesting question about the aerodynamic effects and so forth...

So it looks like 1-2 tenths and 1-2 mph up to 85-90 mph. That's not too drastic I guess. It's not like -5 tenths or -5mph.

I'm by no means an expert in aerodynamics (or anything that has to do with physics), but I'd say that the front windows won't matter THAT much if you run with them open. I'd think the back windows will have more negative effect than the front ones, since the air is just coming off the windshield and it won't curve right away to get in the car, but by the time it gets to the back windows, it'll go right in and make the back of the car act like a parachute. I'm just thinking of when I drive with the back windows open at higher speeds there's this sound that makes you feel like your ears are gonna explode, which I think is the air getting trapped by the back window as it's coming in too fast.
Now that's just my theory, it might be 100% accurate, or it might be major BS, I don't know, but if you do, please let me know.
