Just out of curiosity, what car was in the other lane? E.T. was so-so, but look at the trap. It was comin' in a hurry!

Not just a huge difference in trap speed, but it was waayyy behind in the E.T. so it definatly had its feet under it and was starting to build up.

It was a Fox-body 5.0 with a built motor and slicks that is set up to run 10s down the road, but this was his first day racing it after the recent build. They had been hitting 11.9s at 115, so the car was fast and he could drive well (5spd), but it wasn't at full power quite yet. Since I had already run a 12.1 (left timeslip), I challenged him to a little duel, because I thought I was close enough to maybe beat him heads-up if my R/T was better and if he didn't shift perfectly.

Well, as you can see, he smoked me on the R/T (mine was unusually bad), but he launched so hard that he missed 2nd, then never caught up. He would have probably beaten me by .2-.3 otherwise, but hey...that's why you run 'em. It was nice beating what was basically a trailered race car, but he was all motor, so I gave him props. You should have seen his eyes when he asked how much boost I was running and heard my reply of "25psi."

i know why your r/t was so bad. you prolly couldnt even here yourself think when that beast was staging in the other lane! i get that sometimes goin against the 8's too with the bad r/t's. gotta give them love though, nothing sounds better than a tuned v8, especially the 5.0's and 03/04 cobra's. great recovery nonetheless on your part.

Maybe Jeff Hill and the TT boys would be interested...perhaps ole Jestr down where you are?
As far as I know there is no way for the dealer to read the map on your ECU. You're absolutely correct, Jestr mode 0 does just that and its only $75. At any rate, pretty impressive times. I see you have replaced your clutch, was that out of necessity?

They can read it on 05s.

Yeah, I screwed up and competed (and won) an Import bracket race when I was only intending on doing test'n'tune, which meant I did 12 drag runs in one day with the last 4-5 being within a 30-min span. My slowest time of the day was a 12.7, and that was on a missed shift, so it was basically 11 12.2-12.4s runs with no less than a 1.79 60' on a hot day. This heated up my clutch too much and caused both the flywheel and PP to turn into mirrors, so I had to upgrade the clutch. My stock clutch disk wasn't worn out, but the rest was done, so I went ahead and did the ACT.

Jestr mode 0 sounds good. Now to see if he'll donate it to the cause...probably not, since Scott is racing me to 11s.

Yep, no offense, but Im rooting for Scott myself I just replace my clutch as well, the pressure plate was trashed, but the clutch had a little left in it, resurfaced flywheel, another stock clutch went in as well. I got almost 40k and 70 timeslips out of it, so I think it did it's job well. We'll see how this one fairs, back to the track tomorrow to see how the cams work out, never had a clean run since they've been in.

I am close, but I just don't have enough power. I'm at the complete edge of what I can accomplish on these mods, and I don't plan on doing any others unless my sponsor or some other sponsor gets really serious about wanting ME to hit 11s first, in which case, I'd gladly take a few more mods au gratis and hit the track again. It may only take a 75-degree night in place of the 95-degree midday conditions I had on Sunday, but I'm not banking on it. My 2 main variables right now are 60' and temps. If I was hitting 1.65 60's, then I'd be able to snag 12.0x. If I could get 1.65 60's AND get mid 70 degrees, then I'd have a chance at an 11.99 on a perfect run, but I think Scott and/or Dr Mr can easily get it now that they are hitting 113mph...

Hah, awesome. In fact, I think I ripped his *** head-to-head, but it may have been a different SS. The one I crushed was a black SS that looked really nice and clean, but just had street tires and no obvious mods...

I love hearing those stories, but it's rare. Thanks for sharing. Now, if I could find the message boards that some of these guys frequent, then it would be hilarious. I know the 93 S/C'd Cobra had to be pissed. His car sounded great, but I beat him by a full second. His car wasn't slow, though, so he wasn't TOO far off. The SS, though, was like 10-15 car lengths back. Part of that may have been caused by R/T, though, because I was nailing the tree almost every time...

There were some other F-bodies he was talking to, I think, one of which was a T/A with slicks or at least drag radials. Did he mention how those others were doing and/or how their times compared with other trips to the track when it wasn't a supernova outside? I didn't get to see many other people's times, because I was basically hot-lapping right back into the staging lanes, and you can't see the cars or times as their running.

Most everything that wasn't a full race car was running pretty slow, including SRT-4s, F-bodies, Fox-bodies, boosted Stangs, STIs with FMICs, etc, but I was doin' alright. One gutted Civic was running 11.9 at 115, but he said he was 2-3mph off normal, so I took that as a promising sign...

I hear ya, it's too expensive to try to race anyone but yourself, cheaper to improve upon yourself and work from there. There is always someone somewhere that will be faster.

You forgot this part, "Most everything that wasn't a full race car...." I hope to God that your Stang is a full race car!

Nah, the 2 boosted Stangs were both fast, but just not VERY fast...more like stock Evo fast.
