i agree...on this car ull know when u did it right....it sure feels like a slingshot...pulls u back to the seat if u have space between ur back and the seat watch out for broken necks...ha ha kidding still though its unforgetable once u do it right....also i once only once made the tires spin on second gear? dont know what that hell that was...my friends said it looked like a video game

Today after I worked out some boost control issues I took a test drive with my brother to make sure everything was cool, which included a launch, which my brother described as just like a "free fall"

You need to find the "in between" of slipping the clutch and spinning the tires to a certain point. Once you find that "in between" and can repeat it regularly, you will never look back again.

Whatever you do, DO NOT let the front tires "hop" while launching. Wheel hop can and will cause damage.

I got it on my second try.

I'm pretty sure theres no 2005 1/2 model year, all the 2005s have the rev limiter.

Yeah, that was necessary, Scott.

1) I never said that was a good 60'.
2) It was my first launch _EVER_ on this car and was with the limiter engaged and no clutch mods.

Give me a break, man, 13.1 is pretty damn good for the first try, especially on a 1.92, limiter-induced 60'.

I think it's obvious I would have hit 11s a LONG TIME AGO if I was making anywhere near your power, so you may want to keep these comments to yourself.

My friend who also has a 2004 has launched his car hard at the track at least 25+ times and he has about 14,000 miles on his car. He said his clutch still grabs like it did at 1K miles. I guess it's just all about how good you can launch the car. Someone like me trying to lauch is where all the, "the stock evo clutch and transfer case are $hit," rumors come from.
I dont think he is making that much power.

beating up my car? iv never ever launched it in my whole time owning it...the TC was replaced 2-3 weeks ago cuz the dealer put the wrong fluid in it and the gears grinded up...on my way back to LA i started to hear a slight whine around 80mph...and i was like not again! i didnt do anything...iv heard stories of people that have had it replaced and it whines no matter what...he said he has to live with it cuz the dealer told him nothing was wrong with it

Hey warrtalon, I'm going to have to disagree on this one. Yes, there tires aren't as sticky, but the JDM ones do in fact have the same power as the USDM. AND the reason why they can rev up so high and just pop without breaking (although eventually they will) anything is because of the front pinion shaft (they don't have a rev limiter). The USDM evo's have A LOT more weight on the front end of the car then the JDM ones (crash beams and such), due to safety standards and regulation required to pass the US crash standards and get federalized over here. The weight on the front end of the USDM puts much more load and stress on the front pinion shaft hence the reason why the 5,000 rpm limiter (mitsubishi added this as a safety precaution so people won't be breaking them left and right), and the reason why they can launch the way we can't. So, sometimes it's better not to reply if you don't know the complete answer .

Good luck. He likes to whine about how bad things have gotten, and posts up speculative misinformation all over the place.

Congrats on getting your launch somewhat figured out Mitsu. I'd say a factor would be the tires you are running. I would think that 255-series stickies would require a different launch technique than 235-series stockers.

He also has a strong following of losers who bash him every chance they get.
