Video of 12.01 run

Nothing spectacular, but thought I'd post it out there. Not sure if there's much to learn, because the launch sure does look tame for a 1.66 60', hah. I guess the only noticeable thing is that my shifting doesn't lose much, if any, ground to an automatic Camaro that was so loud you can't even hear my loud exhaust.

12.01

Thanks to SterlingEvo for the vid.

Nice run man, how did you manage a 1.66 60ft when stock you could only make a 1.92? I am basically stock now and can only get a low 1.9 60ft using 5k revlimiter. What did you change to get the better 60ft.

So your best run to date was on 104 rather than 116?

Well, that 1.92 was on my first try when I didn't know that there was a stock 5k launch limiter. I thought something was messed up, so I went home and read about it, then found out I could disconnect it, so I have never launched with it since then. I've been doing low 1.7s every since then with no problem. This 1.66 was my first in the 1.6s, though, so that was better than normal.

Some people can get 1.7x 60's using the limiter as a two-step, but I've always screwed up, so I just disconnect it.

No, he ran 11.89. I was actually catching him in 4th at the end, but then I hit my rev limiter in 4th (6spd), which made me nosedive and fall out at the end, otherwise it would have been my first 11s run ever probably...

There are multiple launching methods that work, but mine is thus:

1) Rev up to 5500-6000rpm
2) As the yellow lights start to come down, start letting out the clutch slowly until it starts to grab
3) Just as the drivetrain slack is taken up, and the wheels start to roll, hammer the throttle and let out the clutch.

This method assures that you do not shock the drivetrain, but does require a slight slip at the beginning. This _CAN_ result in the burning of your clutch IF you hammer the throttle BEFORE letting out the clutch, because what happens is all of your horsepower gets applied to the clutch while it's still barely engaged, which will overpower it. If you time it right, though, there is no clutch burn, no bog, and no spinning...just hard launching.

No, I don't just list the highest octane I put in the car, but rather the combined octane. In this case, I had 4 gallons of 110 and 2 gallons of 93 (est.), which calculates to 104oct combined. The main reason why I ran better on this 110/93 mix than on that earlier 116/93 oct mix was the weather. It was 95* at MIR when I ran 12.15, then it was 60* at Capitol for the 12.01. Interestingly, I went from a high of 88.8mph in the 1/8th to 91.3mph, but I'm just unable to take advantage of it on the top end in 4th due to the gearing issue. We'll see what happens now that I have 200 more rpm to use...

I think ill have to try that, i have a turbotrix mail in flash, MBC, and UR test pipe and got a 13.2 at 104 using 5k limiter. If i could get a 1.7 60ft and a day with less than 98% humidity like i raced on last time that would be a high 12 run which is what i want.

Your launch looked perfect. I didn't see you lose any ground to the camaro in the beginning and it actually looked like you won at the end from the angle of the camera. Great job man!

Yeah, I actually beat his 60' (1.66 > 1.69), but I think he got me on reaction time, which is why he took off first. The angle does make it look good, but I didn't ever catch him all the way. I was on his rear bumper the whole way, though.

We're going again Friday...more good weather with 60-70 degree weather and no rain, although the humidity will be higher.
