GSC/STiKiller.com Evo 7.60 @ 90.6 in the 1/8th

So we took the Old 05 Stock turbo out to the 1/8th last night. The track was crap but the air was perfect. it was about 50 degrees last night and it was clear.

Rob Took the car down the track 3 times, this is the first time he has driven the car at the track, hell he had a total of 41 miles behind the wheel of our evo or any evo for that matter. First pass he mustard a 1.75 60" on stock tires. 7.701 @ 90.1 was the time on 19psi street setup and then we went ahead and turned the boost up to 24psi. Car picked up like .10th a second to run a 7.601 @ 90.6 with a 1.71 60".

I must say it was all the car had in it and for rob to jump in and run those kind of numbers truly shows his driving ability.

We set the car up to be the ultimate daily driver and it is showing its true colors. List of mods is kinda long for a stock turbo but here she goes.

Stock Air box
Injen IC Piping
K&N Drop In Air filter
GSC Battery Tray
GSC 264/264 cams (Stock Gears)
SAFC 2
Forge Actuator and Unos Boost controller
Forge RS BOV Recerc
Borla Header
O2 Pipe
Injen DP
Injen test Pipe
B&B Catback
Hotchkis TVS Kit
Clutch Line Kit
B&M Short Shifter the Cheap non Adjustable one
Innovate Stand Alone Gauge
Walbro Fuel Pump with GSC 12V Line Kit

Nope didn't have a Reflash, or alky injection, and even the clutch is still stock.

We are probably going to run a Tilton Clutch and an AEM in the near future and Hope to take it to the 1/4 for some more impressive numbers.

Wow, 7.60 at only 90.6 on only a 1.70 60'.

My best run is a 7.67 @ 90.5 with a 1.66 60'. This means he took a slower 60' and beat me by more than a tenth to the 1/8th while going the same speed. And I thought _I_ was a great driver...he outshifted me by a tenth. Ouch!

Btw, my 7.67 went on to be a 4th-gear-limited 12.01 @ 111.7. I think this car would have gone no worse than 11.90 @ 114. Hell, probably an 11.8x.

Here is a rundown of my fastest just for comparison

1.707 60ft
4.915 330
7.605 1/8
91.43 mph
9.921 1000
11.874 1/4
115.06 mph

My guess is 11.9 @ 113-114 for your car. Very nice numbers.

Springs and Sway bar.

The Injen Pipe needed a little messaging to work with the air box but we are working with them to change the pipe so it will work with the Stock air box.

I was just shocked at how quickly he ran the number. He has never run an Evo before and then gets in and boom best pass ever for the car.

One of the other guys that was out there in a Mostly Stock MR. he ran a 8.2 @ ??? Which i thought was pretty sick as well.

Leh had his STi out there which we just through a new turbo on the car and he couldn't get it to hook at all in 1st.

That little car is a trip. I like it.

I was surprised it went 7.70 the 1st pass on 93 octane.

When he says "turned the boost up" it seems hard for me to consider 4 more psi, "turning it up".

I didnt notice any seat of the pants improvement, and to be honest .5 mph difference in trap could be track error, in my opinion.

I suspect the better time came from a better launch, and a better 1-2 shift.

But I am a rookie to this evo...

Pretty damn good driving. I hit 7.8 @ 89 at 18 psi with pump gas at the 1/8th mile track, so only 1 mph higher and .2 tenths. You got me by about a tenth on driving.

you suck.

Thats very impressive, thats almost a full 2 tenths faster than my best 1/8th with the same mph(although my 60' was 1.75).

and just for the record, rob has made one trip down the strip in an EVO before this one...he paid me 20 bucks to let him drive mine down the 1320!

thats haulin *****.

**Cough**Cough***

8.12 and an 8.17 @ 87mph

K&N drop-in Filter and 3" TBE.

The air was cold and dry for once. I think everyone that went out there ran their best times.

Congrats to Rob! I didn't get to see him run, though....too many lackys diverting my attention.

The Soupra was a nice spectacle as always. I'm sure some of those kiddos went home in soiled pants after watching their "dream car" tear it up.

My favorite race of the night was the GSC scion TC vs. MkIV 1.8T Jetta. That was the race of the century. The TC trampled it, to my surprise, over and over again!

anyway, I'm interested in seeing how the tilton works out in Rob's evo, because it sounds like the route I want to go.

went up to jackson last weekend..

PACKED!!

here is the storey...

So i posted i was goign to jackson.

ima make this quick because im sleepy.

I went.

Got there at 8;30 and it was PACKED.

got in the lanes, dumped 1.5 gallons of c16 in the tank, and spotted me an STi. Blue, lowered , gold volks,. with R compund tires, front mount, blue cage, and removable steerign wheel.
Im thinking he might be a player.

so i get a race with him, i pull up and rearrange inthe staging lanes to get beside him.

To the line, 1st pass of the night, i smoked the clutch on the launch.. i slipped it tooo long.

very disapointing run

1.9 60
8.20 1/8 @ 86
12.63 @ 112

( previous best at doorchester, is a 1.71, 7.60 @ 90.6)

im 6 tenths off that time in the 1/8

but it was enough to dust the STy big time. not to mention i treed him by prolly .4

round 2.

i get back in the lanes...

3 wrecks and 3 hours later, im back to the burnout box. I got next to a yellow 03-04 cobra vert. I see a nice chrome moly cae inside, and soem fatty ET streets out back. The car has no cats and the tailpipes stop at the rear axle. I heard the driver say he had a ported eaton and NAWZ.

Hmm the car is an auto!

I realized the evo might have bitten off more than it can chew... but im still goign to make him prove it.

Up to the line for pass # 2, and i dry hopped the car to try to clean the tires. up to the line, on the 2 step, and intent on not slipping the clutch , i dropped it pretty hard.

Im in the right lane, cobra in the left lane.

WHAM! the car leaps forward harder than its ever launched. I treed the mustang by at LEASt .3 on top of gettign a good launch. So im out about a car on him. he pulls back though .

by the 1/8 hes about 1.5 out in front. He just had TOO much power. I hit my 4th shift and settle in to run out the back door. At about the 1000 foot mark i catch soem movement out the left corner of my eye.

I look over to see the guy fighting the car ... at 1000 feet! We are both runnign well over 100 and he is startign to fish tail prety bad.

On tail wag 1.5 i had let out of the gas. BY the tail wag 2.5 , im thinking that i can outrun his spin out... so im back on gas.

BY his 4th wag im thinking HELL no!! braaaaaaaaaakes!!!

on wag 4 , he comes into my lane at LEASt a car width. At that point hes about 1/4 to 1/2 of a car length in front of me.

Im HARD on the brakes now... and here he comes for wag 5...

He crosses the center lane and spun out right in front of me...

I had to dart back to the left.. to avoid hitting his right rear as he passed across in front of me.

BOOM he tank slaps the wall.. and i think hes gona rebound back out.. but he doesnt.
I swerve back into the right lane and finish the race... ( idk why)

I ran:

1.67 60 foot
7.70 @ 89.5 mph
im only 3 tenths off at the 1000 foot mark.
14.5 @ 65 1/4

I still ran a 14.50!!!

So i went back over to the car.. and he was ok.. but car is banged pretty bad. FRont bumper cover, RH fender, rh fron suspension broken, RH door, the windshield is busted, the RH rear quarter is trashed and the RH rear suspension is broken.

They pulle dit on the roll back ... and i was watching, 3 track officialls commended me on my driving .. to avoid the collision.

BY the time they cleane dthis wreck up it was 12;30 am.

They were still gona race the last cars.. and i jumped back into the lanes.. after askign the official.

He said i deserved another pass after than mahem.,

My last pass, was good but slower.. than the wreck pass.

1.74 60
7.80 @ 89.0 1/8
12.13 @ 114 1/4

on the second pass i was a full tenth faster at the 1/8 the car bogged slightly on the last launch...

how is that for a story?

I came really close to disaster ... if i had mad any different choice.. liek tryign to outrun the spin.. he woudl have clipped me inthe rear 1/4 at about 110 mph.

if i had brakes any slower or later heda tagged me inthe side.

if i hadnt swerved into the left lane... i would have driven into his rear quarter.

id say i came between 5-10 feet of his car... at somewhere between 65-110 mph.

PRETTY CRAZY!!

im looking for a video of the race.. im sure someone has it...

pics removed

i wish i would have been able to repeat the 7.60 at jackson that I ran in doorchester...

I think the car has an 11.9X @ 115 in it.. with a little practice.. I still have only owned the car about 3 weeks, and made 5 passes in it total.
