CBRD BBK Full - 418whp/351wtq, 93 octane

Just returning from Afghanistan, I had a bit of money I wanted to spend on my Evo 9. I wanted a 450whp daily drivable car with top end power and quick spool. The end result? CBRD BBK Full. I had been temporarily in Maryland for about 2 months before I deployed and had the chance to go up to CBRD Speed Factory for a dyno day. I was EXTREMELY impressed with the clean shop and the number of cars, especially Evo's, that CBRD was working on. When Chad wasn't busy, I approached him informing him of my deployment and a list of things I wanted to do to my car. He gave me his opinion and I told him I would try to contact him while overseas.

When I emailed Chad from Afghanistan, during Monday through Friday he emailed me back usually within 4 hours which was awesome. With little access to phones, I couldn't call him and 'chit chat' about possible parts selections. He was very informative and helpful throughout the entire process. I had him give me quotes for multiple upgrades - at first I just wanted new clutch, upgraded (again) cams, 60k service and JM Fabrications tubular manifold and O2 dump. Then I wanted to skip the cams (had Greddy 264's at the time) and do the BBK Full only. Then it switched to a few other selections and we came up with BBK Full, JM Fab mani/o2 dump, clutch, 60k service and a few other odds and ends. Again, Chad was extremely helpful and quick in responses the entire time.

I got back to the United States in mid November. I decided that I wanted the most for my buil d and that I didn't want to skimp out on any parts. So i purchased new intercooler piping, intake and finally decided to go with GSC S2's with springs/retainers/seats. I emailed Chad and told him of my purchase and he said no problem, they'd take care of it. I had been nervous at first about going with the BBK Full over the FP Red (my original turbo choice) but I read around and liked the fact that none of them had failed and they all had almost identical stock spool. Drove up to CBRD from Georgia and dropped the car off. I drove up with a friend, and Chad stood around and answered every single question I had for him. It was nice that he was using his work time to answer a customer's questions.

A few days later the car was put together. The first day I arrived, we baselined the car at 324whp and 303wtq on 93 octane at 23.5psi. About an hour later, the final results were 418whp and 351wtq at a conservative 25.6psi. The results are awesome, especially considering only 2psi increase in boost. On top of that, the car fully spools before 3800 rpms!!!! To say the least the car is amazing to drive. Stock spool and holds boost past redline. The tires spin in first gear on dry pavement. I'm extremely happy with everything, from the turbo, build, tune and finally CBRD's fantastic customer service! I'd recommend the BBK Full and CBRD to anyone with an Evo out there. After my next deployment, I'm definately going back to CBRD for more work. I can't wait, thanks Chad!

Those are great numbers on that low reading dyno. I have been to CBRD several times and have to agree they know how to treat people.

Enjoy the new torque curve.

Not sure exactly, as many parts were upgraded, but I'm sure it helped. It was either the JM Fab or a ported stocker.

chad,

with him doing the s2's and valvetrain, how much more would the ported head have given him?

with the head its possible to run some more ignition advance and leaner afr's typically-

his car made over 420whp and could have run more boost- but we were both happy with the power levels-

at 28psi with some headwork this car would be nasty
