yeah but the clutch is meant to slip so that the drivetrain doesn't break. But you can launch over 3K. Just be smart don't pop the clutch, but don't slip it neither. My friends EVO VIII, which is different but whatever, the best launch I ever got out of it was at 4.5K and not dumping the clutch but just a quick slip so that it rolls out instead of launching, and as I let go of the clutch I mashed the gas pedal. Got a couple of chirps and away it went. Try it don't be scared to experiment, just don't do nothing crazy or stupid. Go up little by little once you get a good launch your good.

The best launching spot for me is about 5.5K. You nhave to get the revs up a little to have a good 1.6-1.7 60' launch.

For the 05, I got good results lauching at around 4500-5000 rpm. Just quickly slip the clutch out with the gas pedal in (like you are doing a balance scale). Don't drop it.

Just use the launch control, bounce it off that, hold the gas down and when you feel the clutch starting to engage drop it and your off.

Very very hard to launch the evo with less then 6000rpms at the drag track with out slipping the clutch to its death. You have to take the rev limiter off.

Yea what he said. The 05 comes from the factory with launch control at 5k. Just put the car in first gear and put the gas to the floor. The rpms will bounce off the 5k mark and some boost will build. Let the clutch out fast but dont just dump it. The first time I did this I was very impressed

The 05 does not come with launch control!! If it does please tell me how to adjust it for 6100 thats where I would like mine. It comes with a rev limiter in 1st set at 5000ish. Trust me you need more rpms for consistant launches on the drag strip. You don't need as many rpms on the street the surface is not as sticky so maybe 5000 will get it done on the street but not on the track.

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
Try searching....for 5K, launching, 5000...

Saywhen - wrong, and wrong, and wrong...so you think a 5k stutterbox launch and 1.71 60' is bad. It all comes down to how good the car is set up and how the driver can use what hes/shes has. 03/04 did not have this feature. Only 05 and up. 5000K works fine for those who know how to use it - period.

05EvolutionRS - Clutches do not go that easy - poor driving makes them go.

Flamered05SRT - Evos come with a restrictor in our clutch line that forces the clutch to slip when let out fast. Thats what causes most of the slippage in our clutches.

05s come with a 5K factory stutterbox - to keep drivers from launching at 7k and blowing something up. But the 5K works great for launches.

yeah I know about the restrictor, I've read about it thats why I believe there is like a mod for it where you can take it out or something similar to that. Thanx anyways. They prefer the clutch slipping than the drivetrain breaking.

You haven't gone higher than 3k? That's utterly ridiculous...you can't launch a freakin AWD car below 3k or anywhere near 3k. Trying to launch at such a low rpm is a sure recipe for killing your clutch, because it requires MASSIVE slippage. Where in the world did you get the idea for launching below 3k? No wonder you haven't found "a correct spot." Come on, man, do a little research on here. You "know how the clutches go so easily," but you don't know how to launch? I figure if you were able to research the former, you could have researched the latter just by searching within this very forum.

when i did my 12.8 pass i hit mine off the 5k rev limiter and got 1.844- 60". you just have to feel the car. once it starts to roll alittle bit you can take off. but not like a dump off. it feels like your car takes off like a rocket.
