First run after TurboTrix tune
First run after TurboTrix tune
Well just had it tuned this past Saturday and took it to the track last night. The power I made is in my sig and a pic of the chart is at the link. I will get the copy of the slip up as soon as I scan in, but for now:
.350------R/T
1.940----60'
5.428----330
8.312----1/8
85.97----mph
10.834--1000
12.948--1/4
107.04--mph
Launch was around 5000, and I was searching on what I could do to get my 60' down and I figured out what I was doing wrong. I think I am not slipping fast enough. I will be going back again to see if I can get it lower.
Edit:
Here is the slip, Im 8050 and the other car was a camaro z28,

Ouch, you have an AEM EMS with a nearly stock Evo? I wonder why the low torque...
Your mph is close to your whp figures. You will get another mph or two with improved launching/driving, so keep at it. I'm sure you're at least happy to hit 12s. Good job hitting that first milestone!

Are you saying that the EMS on stock is bad, or getting low tq with the EMS was bad. When I bought the EMS it was a good deal and I knew that I was going to be mods, so I figured why not get it. I wasn't planning on puting it in this soon, but when I heard that TurboTrix as comming around I decided to put it in. I will be doing more, just need some more time and money.
And I am very happy with the 12. I am going to go to the track again soon, to see if I can match or better the time. It just sucks at the track because its always packed and you can only get one or two runs in a night.
And I tried searching again, but I can't find this one post about doing the clutch line and taking out the restrictor and it helps get better 60' times. And that you just have to be more careful about not dumping the clutch, which I already dont do. I know I will just have to practice and learn how to launch right, but if this would help and keep from the clutch burning out faster, why not.

Here's how I launched my 03:
Rev to like 5000-5500 rpm's. Try to get the revs going up (vs down) when you actually launch. I started to let out the clutch a little until I felt the point where it was going to grab - all before I've crossed the line. When I felt it grab, simultaneously left off the clutch and floor the gas.
Sounds abusive, but I managed a 1.763 60' on all-season tires!

How do you figure, basicly all I have is intake, exhaust(but still on stock downpipe) and a good tune. Even you just said thats almost what you run and you have cams. So how do you go from "Damn thats almost what I run" to "With your mods your time is bad"?
And I am going to try that launch, just need to get back to the track. I just think that I am keeping the clutch in too long near the end(at like 75% out). I just need to come off it.

I was saying that having a standalone on a nearly-stock Evo is bad and that having such low torque on any tuning device is bad, especially a full standalone. Even if you plan on doing HUGE mods later, I would have just gotten a nice TT flash and saved the EMS for whenever you have your huge turbo and stroker while pushing ~600whp. Until then, you don't need the standalone.
XTC is off, so don't worry about him. With intake, exhaust, and a tune on your 03, I think 107mph is good. You will probably see 108 or 109mph once you learn how to launch and driver better. Only 1 or 2 tries is nothing, so don't worry about it. I've done over 100 drag passes in my Evo, but by no means are all of them perfect. Just keep practicing.

And to the orig. poster- practice practice practice. Good runs/times.
I love going to the track so getting it right will hopefully not be to far off. And I don't really know anywhere to go to practice launching on a back street, so I won't really have any practice before the next time, unless I find a place.
Thanks for all the good feedback and tips.
