Is there an advantage to porting and jet coating the 10.5 and if so, how much of an improvement would it make? 4-5 HP???

Nice work, Nate. The hard work is now paying off.

I hate to pee in the koolaid, but I still see one deficiency. If you notice, you both hit 60's equivalent to mine, but then after that, you lose time, despite you have a good bit more MPH. That points to shifting, so you may have even more improvement to gain just from shifting speed/efficiency. Similar with WhtEv08. His was really good, but remember the 12.26 I did on pump gas was at 110mph on a lower 60' (1.68). I find it very interesting that he went from 111mph on race gas to 112+ on pump gas. That's kinda weird, but certainly a good thing.

Neither of us are no lifting at all, so that is probably some of it right there. I am not going back until my new clutch is in next month, then we will see what I can do with it. Thanks for your advice about tire pressure and the limiter, it helped us out.

Thanks a bunch Warrtalon. Don't worry about peeing in my cool aid, You have helped me go from being a newbie to feeling very confident out there on the Strip. Your advice and constructive criticism are always welcome with me.

You are exactly right! By watching the Vids I can hear a distinct engine cut out on both mine and Jeremiahs cars as we shift and they go down the track. I know that I can hit 11's now, which was a goal in its self. On that launch I kind of enjoyed the G's to much and might have tapped the rev limit for a tiny picosecond prior to shifting....

I dont think a ported HS will do anything because the important factor is in the scroll chamber area which would be impossible to port.

Nevertheless, I think upgrading the 9.8 will unleash a lot of potential still locked up.

I gained 3 tenths in 1/8 mi with just that mod. Its cheap and easy to do

3/10's with no difference in 60" or gas? If so that's amazing

Damn! 3 tenths in the 1/8th would make 5 tenths in the 1/4 which would put me deep into the 11's. I am leaning more and more towards that mod.

Montgomery is like that. There's a few nights per year where the track, weather, etc just jives well and just about everybody out there will run new bests. It's pretty cool when those happen

Glad you guys had some awesome runs! I was there the week before when the RX-8 smacked the wall. Hope everything turned out Ok with that. Man, that Alky car went up some major mph...weren't you running 110-111 the whole night when I was out there?

Oh yeah, I heard they are actually prepping the track now. The time in my sig is from the old ownership...you know, the ones where the staging lanes had less traction than the street Looking forward to at least 1.7's next time.

Nice 60' and nice MPH. Your car is definitely capable of some 11's.

Thanks for the response! Actually the RX-8 guy is doing well.

As far as my MPH last time at the track I was trapping 113-114 on my first two runs @ 24.5psi of boost and then on my last run I had my best time but the car died out in 4th gear and I only trapped 110.8.

When I got home, I checked the check engine light at Autozone and there were several codes. Since then I changed the old 16k mile plugs and my EVO ran a ton better. One of the plugs looked old and as though it could have been fouled??? I then played with the SBi-D Boost controller to try and capture more boost than the 24.5 psi that I got at Montgomery the 1st time.

On my best run of the night the 12.0 the boost hit 26.1 and then stayed steady at 25.5psi until the end of the track. Anyways I really only improved my MPH by 1-2. Yes you are correct the weather was nice!!! Take care and BTW we plan on another trip after I buy and install a 10.5 HS/Ebay O2 and Port and Polish my OEM Header. I am betting on mid to low 11's.

Then I am going to start trying to use race gas. I don't know if it and meth will cause issues as far as being to cool and not allowing for good spark, time will tell.
