vid of my car.....
Since my first thread about my 7.9 pass didn't get any comments I figured maybe a video would get some opinions of the drag racing forum...

mods are:
intake, 3" turbo back, 272's, fuel pump, ebc spiking 21 psi, Exedy twin disk, custom tune by DynoFlash for my 264's.

I mean this is the 2nd thread in 3 days I've posted in here and Warrtalon hasn't posted in either of them. Did he get banned or something?
I figured of all people he would have something to say or some advice to give.
I know it's just a 7.9 and people have done it before. I was just excited and wanted to share to get some comments on what I was doing right, wrong, or something I can do to get a better time.
What kind of 1/4 mile you guys think my time would produce?
1/8th-mile is useless, that's why. Don't waste your time, because they usually don't translate well into 1/4-mile track times. Get to a full track, then report back. I did 7.76 on pump gas without cams, so you can shoot for beating that with your cams.

You ran a 7.76 without cams? That on race gas or pump gas/alky, or just pump gas?

My 60ft. was a 1.73. Best I've gotten so far.Warrtalon...what were your mods then? You do have a 05' and I'm sure the 6 speed ain't hurting you either. Those are nice times for pump gas. I just need to practice a little more. As of now, my car is running the tune for the 264's I had before the 272's went in. With some more practice I should be hitting 7.7's.
I'll probably be hitting up the 1/4 mile the Sat. after this. I just hate driving so damn far to run.
7.9 is good time for without not having 10.5 HS, but mph with et will tell us more. Since, 1/8 results in respect to 1/4 depend greatly on gearing, torque curve, and tire circumference/psi, we must never, ever estimate 1/4 from 1/8 because it would be almost impossible to be accurate. I would say a 7.9 would easily be a 12.3 to 12.9
Since your like me and no 1/4 tracks are around we have to use them as guidlines and competitioncus it's all we got.
Even though every 1/8 track will give quite different results you need to take the mph into consideration in respect to the et to see whats going on
Basically, your ET is the bottom how time conservative of driver (fast shifter) you are with a given amt of power (MPH)
For instance take the following:
a) 7.9@83mph
b) 7.9@85mph
c) 7.9@89mph
d) 7.9@91mph
a) tells me the driver made the most effect use of time for his given power and the other extreem d) has the much available power but aint as effective at using it (cant shift).
Now these are just guidlines because fast shifting does help mph a little but not as much as power. And on the other hand, power of course will have an effect on ET, but once you get to said amt of power and ET, improving your shifting can easily help it but not as much as it will mph.
To get interesting responses from your results you will need earlier runs at the same track with the MPH so we can better see whatthehell is going on

These are the 5 runs I had last year at the same track. The only things that changed on my car is I was running my 18" Volks and 264's on last years passes.

These are the three runs from this past weekend. Like I said before, I'm still running the tune from Al when I was custom tuned for my 264's. I'm just waiting to be retuned so I can get a couplemore thing first. Al told me that his tune was safe enough to where I didn't need to be retuned, but I would think a retune would yeild some power somewehre.

Corey,
You aint gonna see improvements that easy with 264 to 272's esp on an 1/8.
But one thing I can tell you for sure is that a 10.5 HS installed will give you 2-3mph guaranteed and it dont need tunin' - thats right - last years 264 custom tune will still work OK for the 272s and HS.
But if you get 20g -9 and tune, totally different arena.

Racing a 1/8 miles def is not useless.
Most if not all of your E.T. comes in the first part of the track. Granted most people use 1/4 times as their benchmark. I do also because that is whats local to me.
Keep working at it, get your 60' and 330' down and watch your E.T. drop. When you feel you got a good handle on it, drive the 2 hours to the 1/4 track. Make a pass to run it out the back door, so you can post your 1/4 time in your sig and not make people think about how fast you are.
