If an S2000 running Nitto drag radials can pull a 1.42, why is it so hard to imagine an Evo with 4 BFG Drag Radials pulling that? I think with a stronger clutch, higher two step, and a bit more power, Mike can cut a high 1.4 60ft.

I believe AMS has cut a 1.49. You have to remember that as you start making more and more power, it typically gets more and more difficult to improve the 60ft linearly.

Look at fimotorsports for example... He was pulling 1.5 60fts with the stock clutch, stock turbo, and all season tires. He then approximately doubled his horsepower and torque with the GT37R/stroker, added a stronger clutch, drag radials, etc. & is now pulling either the same 1.5 60fts or slightly worse 60fts (low 1.6's).

Bottomline is it's not easy getting all that power down to the ground out of the hole, especially when you want to do it without breaking stuff. This is why so many drag racers opt for a RWD platform... It's usually more efficient, less complex, and easier to pull a good 60ft than an AWD car with all else being equal.

Are you serious? What's your best 60' time?

As much as I'd like to see him cut a 1.4 60' time I think it's going to get even more difficult with an upgraded clutch and more power. I might be wrong though.

Again, congrats on some impressive driving!

I guess time will tell... I think the best thing he could do would be to upgrade everything marginally... I.e., put in a clutch that's just marginally better than stock so it's not too grabby and doesn't break driveline parts such as transfer cases and axles; raise the two step only a few hundred RPMs; make only another 20-30whp with a better tune, couple more bolt ons, etc.; and take more weight out! If he does all that, I really think he'd have a good chance of cutting a high 1.4 60ft.

Yeah and a lot of people before said they'd doubt he could pull a 1.57 with his mods and a stock clutch too...

Despite the very low 1/8 mph for a 7.6 ET (you shift supersonic), note the 90mph 93 octane vs 87mph 116 octane.

This tells me you have so much more time to lose with just high oct/boost tuning. I bet at least 0.2 sec in the 1/4.

Man, good shifts
