The rule does not state that pictures cannot be posted; it only references videos.

BTW, this is not a sudden, out-of-nowhere rule...
But it doesn't say that. This is simple logic.

But the rule does not say that. You can all say whatever you want but the rules that have been posted are the only ones with any weight.

i quote from the sticky:

No Posting of Street Racing Threads Feb 26, 2004, 12:30 AM #1

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Absolutely no posting of "kill stories" or any street racing related threads. This forum isn't specifically for posting your street racing related experience (as this forum attracts most street racing threads), but instead for discussing your time slips at the track and topics that are related.

So to continue our stand against street racing, further street racing threads WILL not be allowed and WILL be DELETED. This applies to ALL Forums.

SO there it s over, stop steering crap and making pointless come backs

Sir, I was simply responding to the rule that the moderator "SpeedLimit" linked us to. I was not aware of a "sticky?" Sorry, but I am not on these forums 24-7. I simply read the rule that the moderator posted and don't believe Mike violated it with this post.

I find it extraordinary that an Evolved member did not notice the absence of street racing threads (including discussions) on this site. We have enforced the rule consistently for the last two years and yet you argue "he didn't know"? And you didn't know? And that was after a two ban for posting a video. Awe....... bovine droppings.

It's also simple to realize that EVERYONE else understands what the rule means, and that it should not have to be dumbed down to the LCD...

Unfortunately for your "client", this isn't a courtroom where loopholes can be jumped through. Whatever the rule says or doesn't say, it's up to the moderators to interpret it, not you, and it's their discretion to act on that interpretation. I know you really want to argue for the hell of it here, since you clearly can see that it's common knowledge that any Street Racing stuff is not allowed, but you gotta let it go... if anything, your "argument" may prompt the mods to clarify the rules, but certainly not change them...

Yes, you are right, that the wording of that specific rule could be clearer, but c'mon dude! Like I said before, this isn't new...

But it is a good arguement. At the very least it's funny.

No, I am not claiming ignorance of the rule; I am claiming that Mike did not break the rules you posted the link to in this post.

Just because EVERYONE else misinterprets the rule doesn't mean they're right! It appears as if Evom is run very much like a democracy; as such, you have rules instead of laws; moderators instead of officers and prosecutors; and suspensions in place of criminal penalties. Well if that's true, then why shouldn't the rules be carried out to the T? It really shouldn't be any different than the courtroom since everything else is so similar. Let the mods clarify the rules if they'd like, but suspending or banning Mike's account was unjustified since his thread was made prior to the rule being clarified. He never posted a video and that was what the rule stated: No street racing threads AND videos. Don't you guys remember logic in high school mathematics? The "AND" means BOTH parts must be true.

Not that I am an enlish major, or a rocket scientist (don't really have to be), but it seems from big d.com that you proved yourself wrong as "and" can mean "in addition to" or "as well as." Therefore, saying that street racing threads AND video are against the rules means the following:

Street racing threads "in addition to" videos are against the rules.

--OR--

Street racing threads "as well as" videos are agains the rules.

Both of these lead to the same end, that your friend broke the rules twice now. If he cannot understand the rules then he shouldn't be posting. Ignorance of the rules is not the mods problem (god knows they have enough to deal wiht as it is), but his. He can always ask a mod to clarify the rules if they are too challenging, but in that case he should not be driving at all if he hasn't advanced that far in school yet.

In the event that dictionary.com isn't enough, grab a Websters. I took the liberty of checking in that too, and it agrees with dictionary.com.

<----- to interested in this arguement to let it go.

If you buy a car, sign the papers and they read. Mr. and Ms. Smith, both of you must sign the papers to buy or sell the car.

If they read Mr. or Mrs. Smith only one of you will need to sign for the transaction.

It's basic logic. These ideas are used everyday all around you.

Sorry, but you're wrong. If "AND" in this case means "in addition to" or "as well as", then all those posts including any type of "videos" would be against the rule. Videos of drag racing, road racing, dynoing, etc. would all be illegal since the rule doesn't specify which videos cannot be posted; it simply states "videos."

Therefore, it is implied that "AND" in this instance means "A logical operator that returns a true value only if both operands are true." This would make the most sense since "videos" is not specifically labelled with the "street racing" description again as it was in the previous part of the sentence, i.e., "street racing threads."
