if you have the 06, it has a built in launch control at 5,000 rpm.

stop the car,
put it in 1st gear,
slowly rev the motor up to and the ecu should hold your RPMS at 5k,
then you can floor the motor and it will just stay there.

from there you release the clutch a little slower than a "drop" and you should get a decent launch. it might take a little practice but you'll get the hang of it fast. too slow and you burn the clutch, too fast and you'll bog.

P.S. E-brake has to be down, clutch has to be fully in.. not sure why but ive had it work the first time for some reason, i always just try again and it works.

I have an 03 and I did that in my back roads and boy did I smell clutch. This is what I did:

I came to a COMPLETE stop
reved it upto around 5-6 and dropped the clutch.
I had an awesome launch but boy did I smell it.
I have the ACT 2900 street clutch...is this wrong for dragging?
Like I said I loved my launch but it stunk of clutch.

There's no way it stunk if you dropped the clutch. Dropping the clutch would just make you bog, bounce or shoot off like lightning, but none of those would cause clutch smell. Your clutch smells because you were slipping it too much. The ACT can definitely launch hard, because I did all my fastest drag times with it before it roasted at 9500 miles. Your 03 doesn't have launch control, so don't worry about that...only 05/06s have it.

It must be. A clutch dump would not do that - it would just break your transfer case or spin all 4 through 1st...or both.

Could it still have that restrictor pill in there that slows the action of the clutch engagement?

Sure I don't see why it wouldn't.........I bought thing used and I am working on putting it back the way it was but with massive amounts of upgrades.

How do I remove that if I can? DO you recommend it?

I have not removed mine, I will when I replace the stock clutch. Most agree it's a good move and keeps your clutch from slipping during a hard launch, but you have to be careful not to dump the clutch too hard (like sliding your foot off the side) as you can damage your TC.

if the res. pill is still in,your clutch is gonna slip no matter what you do, thats the purpose of the pill to keep from dumping and breaking driveline parts. remove the pill and put on a ss clutch line then it wont slip unless you make it. for best launching results i would rev to 6-6.5 rpm,s and do a easy slip and floor it while releasing the clutch all the way.

OK so then how many launches would I get out of a brand new ACT street 2900, before the clutch goes out again?
