Cool First time at track with new setup....

I went to Turbo Trix last Wednesday and had a bunch of parts installed, including an alky kit! Basically I changed all parts except still on the stock turbo (+10.5 hotside), and stock engine. I am also running a high-flow cat, so my whp might not be quite as high as some others. But it still runs like a champ at 370whp.

Anyway, I went to the track on Sat and went 12.8 on the first run, and 12.7 on the second...and I MISSED 4th!! I was trying to shift too fast and didn't get it in gear the first time. I am just an average driver with less than 10 trips down the 1/4 mile, so I am improving all the time.

Based on the two time slips I posted, what time and mph do you think I would have run had I not missed 4th. I was .21 faster at the 1/8th, and 2.5 mph faster than my first run! Maybe a 12.5 and 112?

Also, based on the dyno chart I posted, what shift rpm would be optimal? I was shifting around 7,500-7,700.

Warrtalon....you are free to respond...I am not one of those "haters"....HA!

i dont know if this helps but i ran 12.2@113 with 335whp on a dynapack i think that is around 350whp on a dynojet. so if that is true and u are making 370 i would guess that ur traps should maybe be around 115mph

it's not your shifting it's your 60 foot times they have to be lower are cars should go 1.700 or better

Your shifting way too late, that's killing your trap speed. Woops my bad, I'm thinking stockish EVO, your probably still making power well pass 7,000RPMs.

Not sure why those TT graphs are always in MPH, but if you'd post the actual runfile by zipping it and attaching it to your post, then I could put it in WinPep, switch to Engine Speed (RPM), then tell you when to shift. I have no idea why you'd shift so high, but if you look at your graph, you can see that the power peaks way up at 73mph, which is below 7000rpm. You should probably shift around 7200-7400, but you need more than 2 tries so you can test it and find the optimum shift points. You may want to shift at different RPMs in each gear.

Btw, what boost are you running? With alky, we usually run big boost, which gives us a huge torque spike, but your torque is very low, which indicates you're running lower boost levels, although you're still making big HP.

what's the deal with your 60's? Do the TT flashes NOT have a 2-step limiter?? That would help the ease of launch tremendously. . .

Thanks for the input. I was probably over-revving by a few hundred rpms. It just didn't feel like it was losing any power up that high. The track was so full, not to mention cleanups and someone wiping out on a motorcycle. Hopefully it will go a little faster next time.

Boost is peaking around 27 psi, but of course tapers in the higher rpms. I am running a high-flow cat, so that's why I thought my torque might have been a little low. I am using 100% meth with an SMC kit.

I am running a Utec and do not have the launch control hooked up. I know it would probably give me more consistent 60's, but I wanted to try to get better by myself first.

Here is a full list of mods in case anyone wants to know....
UTEC Engine Management
Greddy Profec B Spec II Boost Controller
HKS Cams 264 Int/Ex
HKS Cam Gears
HKS/Helix TBE
Randomtech HFC
JDM MR Diverter Valve
DC Sports Stainless Exhaust Manifold
Helix O2 Housing
10.5 Hotside
Forge Wastegate Actuator
Injen Short Ram Intake System w/UICP
Injen Front Mount Intercooler Kit w/ Lower ICP
SMC Alky kit - 100% Meth

I'd still shift at 7500 if I were you.

Your first run looks super weak. I must say that you must be shifting REALLY slow because with that kind of power you should be trapping AT LEAST 113.

For reference in your first run in the 1/8th you ran a 8.3@86, when I was bone stock I ran a 8.45@85

In the second run you are quick (8.0 1/8) but the power seems really weak only improving 20mph in the second half of the 1/4 which is also what my car gained stock from the 1/8th to the full 1/4.

You are obviously making good power, I just think that you are not used to the setup enough to get any sort of consistent numbers and also you need practice on your shifts. With your power you should be running LOW 12's

Comp cams make some great power. i also use the utec, greddy profec b spec II, dc header, ebay o2, 280 cams, gears, headstuds, walbro, injen intake setup, turbosmart bov. and i''m making 356/339 on pump and 381/400 on alky this was dyno two weeks ago....hmm

It's just a 10whp difference. His low torque has to be low boost. He says 27psi, but I don't see how he could be running 27psi and get such a low tq spike unless it's a problem with the UTEC not providing good timing at peak boost.
