If you are feeling a hesitation on your 1-2 shift then more then likely you are shifting way to slow and you are coming off boost. That would be killing your times. BTW I ran a 12.3@108 last year so with a good 60' and very fast shifting you should be well into the 12's.

it's possible your clutch is just starting to go... probably a very slight slip then catch. (just a guess)

another thought is boost leaks??

as for your shifting... it's not how fast or how hard you shift -- the real important thing is that you're not losing too much boost between gears and that you're not falling out of the power range when you land into each gear.

I ran a 12.7 @ 108 with the same WHP at the same track. (your 60' time is better than mine was so it's not your launch)

Before getting this Exedy 4-puck, I would just shift really fast on the 1-2/2-3, then I'd no-lift the 3-4. Back at sea level, I ran 12.26@110 with ~300whp with this type of shifting and a great launch. Your car has much potential, but to get good times in drag racing, you have to have great launches and split-second shifting at the proper RPM and with no delay in power/momentum.
I'm scared to no-lift shift now. After seeing what it did to my stock clutch, I'd hate to see what it'd do to the rest of my drivetrain with a clutch that can take it.

I'd no-lift them all but the 1-2, I think that's too much stress.

I used to no lift shift, but then my tranny started to mess up, I say just learn how to shift as fast as you can, practice makes perfect.

Well don't do it on the street and how often do you actually goto the track? Wartalons tranny is still holding up.

I don't know who wart is, but the way I do it doesn't seem to stress the tranny too much.

Jxs, you should not be shifting to 5th, so there should be no 4th gear shift point. The others look about right, but I'd do the 1-2 closer to 6500 after a good launch.

How do you do it? I want to keep doing it at the drag strip, but I'm worried now that with a stronger clutch I'll trash my tc or tranny.

I don't know that I do it any special way, but the more I hear people talking about damaging tranny/t-case from abuse, I get the feeling they don't do it the same way I do. I just keep my foot on the gas the whole way, and I full-clutch snap-shift as fast as I can. When I hit it right, there is no bang or clunk - it just keeps accelerating with no hesitation. The 12.30@107.99 was me doing it just right, but there are some where it just doesn't engage the same, and I run a tenth or two slower with the same mph AND same 60'. I also wasn't able to NLTS every shift easily until I got the Exedy 4-puck, which is very, very grabby, so

When I saw my stock clutch, there were small cracks on the pressure plate. I never got any clunking while shifting, even while hitting second gear. I've got the ACT clutch assembly now, but am still breaking it in so I haven't had a chance to try it.

it takes a bit of practice, i ran a 12.5@106 1.7 60 and didnt no lift any shift i usally no lift 3-4th and i dynoed on dyno jet 294whp 280tq but that was at 19 psi or so this is with running 280 cams exhaust injen intake custom tuned. Guess if you just be smooth precise and dont try so hard times will get better.

I ran a 13.2@ 102 up in Colorado. You should be in the mid/low 12's with a 108 trap. Just shift faster and get your 60's in the low 1.7's and you should be good to go. A solid shift, even with lifting should only take a 10th of a second. Practice makes perfect.

I would guess that you should be shifting around 7300rpm (given that your dyno ends at 7k). Get your left foot and right arm closely related if you do decide to NLS.

You can do it!
