What am I doing wrong?

Well I broke my ix in and went out last night with some friends. I raced my friend but I couldnt launch the car for nothing. I would rev to 5k and bareley slip the clutch till I felt the car roll, then I would floor it. When I did that the car bogged really bad and felt like it was going to stall. I tried again and revved to 4k and dumped the clutch and the same thing happened. I tried four times to launch the car and every time it baggod so bad it felt like it was going to stall. I was able to launch alot better with my fwd srt4. What am I doing wrong here? I tried what you guys said. Rev to 5k quick slip till it moves then floor it.

Are you holding the rev's at a constant RPM? You have to rev the engine between like 5 and 6 k. The car needs to be in boost and you wont get any boost pressure if the throttle is in a constant position. Just try bouncing the needle between 5 and 6 k then slip the clutch.

I would put it in gear, hold the clutch down and step on the gas. The car revs to 5k and stays there. Then I slipped the clutch really fast. When I tried this way the car bogged really bad.

The stock 2 step sucks, you need to slip it more...the more you slip though the more clutch you smell. People said the 9's 2step was at 5500 but mine is at 5k.

If your bogging your coming off the clutch too fast. You need to slip more like 2step said.

neither does mine, I've tried the 2 step and it just doesn't work for me. I bump it of the limiter and slip the clutch, so far it's what has worked for me. Launch at 5k rpms, 5k is already low enough, any lower isn't a good idea in my opinion.

YOu either figure it out or you disconnect it. If you're bogging, then you're not slipping long enough.

Subiedude, we have a built-in launch limiter at 5k, so things are a little different.

Stage 4 gets a WRX about equal to a stock Evo IX? Ouch.

Launching a stock turbo evo is easy, especially if you have the launch control. Let it bounce off the set rpm and dump the clutch. I used to do it all the time. Now with this bigger turbo I dont know how to(scrared to is the word). I ran a 13.0@118mph with a 2.4 sixty foot.

So you could rev it to the 5k and bounce it off thus creating boost pressure (i think, i dont have an evo tho hahah).

Stage 4 gets a WRX more powerful than an Evo IX. The evo doesnt dyno near 276whp, 263lb-ft, and it doesnt run a 12.9 1/4mi. Needless to say Id still rather own an Evo, but im weird hahaha.

actually, just to inform you, stock IX's are completely capable of 12.9s @ about 105-106mph with a good driver... check this:https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...light=stock+IX

and yes they will build a few pounds of boost (5-7 psi) by bouncing off this stock limiter..

Sorry to bring you back to reality, but several have hit 270+ whp in stock form on a Dynojet, and ALL of them of capable of 12.9. In fact, many have already done 12.9 in stock form, but that's with average driving. They are capable of 12.7s with a good launch.

Even 05 Evo VIIIs could run 12.9 with great driving, but they were usually in the 240-250whp.

Thats very impressive for the IX's. I didnt realize they were that much more powerful than the VIII's. I know they have half-MIVEC and all.

So a Stage 4 WRX is about equal to a stock Evo IX. Makes sense, my Turbo is about the size of the Evo's.

I would be scared to launch a wrx with that much power without beefing the drivetrain..

thats horrible...nothing to be proud of....a 2.4 60.....thats horrible ur launching sucks...u need to slip it fast not dump it..on stock clutch was launching 1.7's and thats even bad...i have a exedy twin so im expecting and hoping for low 1.6's 118mph is good for a mid - low 11

cheers
