Nice launch! The guy you were racing is probably making the same power, but you got a better launch and a way better time!!

The only reason that I think stock turbo and pump has any basis for being a record thats worth keeping track of is it represents capability of the car. For instance lets take a 04-05 Corvette that runs a 12.2 from the factory. Drive to the track, run a 12.2 drive home. I do the same thing now (albeit with TBE and Flash). Foolish pride I spose.

Boosted- I think he was racing a Mustang that particular run.

There's really no reason for you to set a stock clutch goal, because it doesn't matter. The clutch will go out, and there's no use in trying to set records with it, because it's not a record anyone cares about - too many caveats (stock turbo, stock clutch, pump gas, blah blah). Remember that IXs are ridiculously faster than all of our VIIIs, mod-for-mod.
Why are the IX so fast compared to the VIII? Is there something that we can retrofit to get closer to that performance?

I got 1.76 with all of the following significant stock 04 SSL parts installed at same time:
  1. Catback
  2. Clutch
  3. BOV
  4. Turbo
  5. ECU
  6. IC and ducting
It was about a 5900 RPM slip WITHOUT 2 step, I never want to punish my drivtrain like that again

Removing the clutch restrictor (which I am figuring you probably did when you did the clutch) and proper clutch control does alot to minimize stress to the drivetrain. I left at 6300 with boost and never smelled clutch, yet didnt bog, kind of hazed the tires on launch a little instead.

Hmm, you haven't actually seen us moan about how much faster IXs are since they were released almost a year ago, nor the fact that they have a larger compressor housing on the turbo, MIVEC, and revised coolant passages in the head? Interesting - I thought by now it was common knowledge.

Revised coolant passages? I didn't know that.

It's been a year and I'm still gonna moan: Dam stupid Evo market starting the cars off slow then the 05 (got to change the hotside) now the IX ( got to use cams and W/M to compete) what a waste of ... wait, my car will soon be paid for (well not really)

OK, I understand some of it, but the actual question was if there is something we can retrofit, (i.e. head/turbo)

Will a change to the IX turbo be wise? Will this make a 8 come closer in performance?
or it is better to to a 20G?

The head may have better flow, but I do not think it will fit. Is there a big diference in performance? Will a port and polish to the older head compare in performance to the newer head?

And yes, I also moan, but I can't do anything since my car is paid off and would loose too much to change to a new one, so I have to stay with it.
