Stock for stock! Evo vs STI ( Any yr model)

What beats what in the 1/4 mile? The evo takes it home by quite a bit doesnt it? I got a bet with my one friend with some money on it that an Evo VIII beats the STI in the 1/4. Does anyone know of any sites that backs this up or a site that has 1/4 mile times? My friend swears the STI wins bc he saw it on this one site n hes gonan print it out for me n all. So i need a little proof now. Anyone know od a good review or a site? Thanks,
Linko

i think in magazines and websites it' going to say the Subbie (at least for Evo VIII vs. STi), but when coming down to driver, it may be the Evo.

Pretty much all drive. SCC did a comparison a few months back where they took a 2005 MR VS a 2005 STi. Light for light the STi got it over the Evo. Quarter mile though the STi ran a 13.6 and the Evo ran a 13.5. We all know a evo can do better than this stock, but it also said they're conditions were really hot. thats the only thing ive seen in a magazine off the top of my head. I know there are plenty of other articles on the web though.

No magazine answers this. You really haven't gotten your answer, but you act like you did, so that confuses me. This is the breakdown if you take the same driver in both cars at the same time on the same track:

STi > 03-04 Evo
STi = 05 Evo
STi < 06 Evo

That's it, but no magazine says this. Magazine drivers have trouble launching the 05/06 Evos due to the built-in 5k rpm limiter, and they only get 3 tries. The Subie is way easier to launch and has no limiter like that, so they pull better 60's, which give better ETs, but that's not indicative of reality, which can be seen at your local drag strip.

IMO, I don't believe the IX's are noticeably faster than the VIII's. Maybe a tenth of a second. The STi's powerband is alot smoother than the EVO's but they are shifting more than we are depending on what model EVO you have. I would have to say it comes down to driver. I have seen a few IX's race VIII's and we're talking a fender, maybe.

What Warrtalon said. I agree with his statements with the exception of a coupld of car magazine where the STI actually beat the Evo 8 MR by a small margin.
