My IX - 214kw atw - 400m run
My IX - 214kw atw - 400m run
Hi all, i finally tested the quarter mile on the car (was quite hard). anyway the clutch is letting me down a bit in reality, because I think the car easily has another .3seconds to come off this quarter ... even my new heavier clutch was starting to heat up badly and stink so I had to take it easy and shifter early. i included the right hand comparison run which shows the best 0-100 i ran last night (4.294seconds) and if you convert the best quarter mile highlighted below it's 60foot time is 1.74second which is pretty damn fast too. its in 20metres on the screenshot because the gtech s/w was in metric mode to show everything in km/h. still pretty happy with the 60foot being 1.7s and the quarter being an easy 12.7 and i could do 12.55 with a better clutch and probably even lower than that on a nice smooth track.
btw using a gtech pro RR 2006 accurate to .05secs of a track timer on 1/4mile. even more accurate on 0-100s and other things
GRAPH BELOW-
Comp Run 2 is my fast 0-100 run
Comp Run 1 is my fastest 1/4 so fast but it will be improved on easy 12.5, 1.74second 60foot time is good though
Main run is just there to show how if had a better clutch that didnt heat up so bad and then lock me out of gears a bit too much at high rpm (despite adjustment) it would be even faster than 12.5s, check out 2nd gear and the times on the acceleration/flexibility numbers, holding that 2nd gear to 7300 makes a lot of difference in various trap times.

yay for now!

Trav B)
ps the reason I shifted earlier than optimal on the quarter run (lets face it, it couldve easily been 12.55 if I held the gears longer) was because my clutch kept heating right up from the launch then locking me out of gears at extremely high rpm. so when I got a good launch I wanted to maximise my shot at the quarter run and I chickened out of those extra 200rpm on the end of gears which wouldve added that bit as you can see from the comparison. oh well i got my 12 second run thats all that matters.
heavier clutch and a nice track and i could do 12.2, 12.3.
you'll note also that the 60foot time (20metres but converted to feet not metres) is 1.74 which is pretty good for a crappy clutch/nearly stock IX!
the quarter mile speed converts to around 107.17mph and the 1/8th mile speed is 85.00mph
the 0-100 converts 0-60mph to 4.06 or thereabouts

Troe666,
Thanks for sharing. I own a G-tech pro as well and I have tested no less than 10 cars with it. Primarily I found that the G-tech Pro is a bit optimistic (I am not saying your car is slow). Truly, I wouldn't trust the G-tech reading much, don't get me wrong, it is an awsome toy and I also use often to improve my launching and shifting(records rpm shift changes and what not) but it is significantly off from real testing(dyno and track).
That is just my opinion. I am not discouraging you, I am just sharing my observations from comparing my G-tech runs vs the real 1/4 mile runs (hundreds of runs).

on the same gtech system, the car ran 13.4 stock quarter mile, with high 1.8 60ft / 1.9s
also im interested to know, what are the reaction times on the track runs compared to the staging setting on your gtech?
also are you deep or shallow staging?
im just wondering if a setting could be off,
something must be...it sorta 'cant' be that off, its just a simple timer that is calculating distance (and its not hard to be accurate about that!)
Ive tested the same , probably 12 cars even, and all have been spot on what I thought the car should be capable of given mod levels vs stock performance times. do you have it mounted? are the accelerometers calibrated?
have you seen some of the gtech videos showing run after run in different cars with track timers agreeing exactly (to the hundredth) with the gtech's?
you using an SS or RR? what year? pre-2002 or whatever models were probably a bit iffy but these things have been around forever.
have you tried anyone else's gtech on your runs?
what about a different track(s)?
BTW did you convert from 0-400m to 1/4mile? that takes it from 12.79 to 12.81 or thereabouts. we're in metric in Australia you see!
