could not trap higher?
I got to go to the track for my first time today, for some reason i could not trap higher then 100 mph. I ran a 13.9 my first run. by the end of the night i got down to a 13.6. But my trap was 99 on every single run. WTF is up? i know my time went up cause my launches improved probably. Im just wondering anybody else trapping this slow? The only thing i can think of is a boost leak. my car is tunned by me, my first though was wait a min, maybe my flash sucks. so i flash it back to stock. and i run even slower. So atleast i know my tuning improved performance rather then lowered it. It sucks to find out that you have like the slowest evo out there. I hope its a super boost leak, cause my boost spikes to 22 and tapers to about 20, (increased desired engine load/reduced taper via ecuflash).
Oh and my 60 foot was like 1.8 so none of that adds up i have to have a boost leak or something.

Well, you need to list your mods first of all, then tell us the track, the elevation, the conditions, the octane, etc etc. 22psi tapering to 20psi is very little taper, so that does not indicate a boost leak, but a boost leak wouldn't show up in your taper anyway. If you are worried about having a boost leak, then do a boost leak test. If you don't have one, then do a compression test. Your car could be very slow, or it could be the conditions if you were at LACR or something...

If your 100% stock, that's a decent time. 13.8 @ 100.4 with a 1.8946 60ft is what I got with 91 oct in las vegas, nv.. Notorious for bad times..
Well i'm stock except for a DP with a bunge for an 02 sensor in it spark plug covering the hole until wideband comes in. otherwise the rest of my exhaust is stock. Well it did seem like it might have been a little humid. Its just that some of these people posting trap speeds of 105 with a stock evo. Kind of made me feel super slow cause 105 vs 100 is a pretty big difference. plus i road tuned my car with ecu flash, havent done the fuel aspect of it, but increased desired engine load/ some timing on top end. Thats why i spike 22 and only taper to 20 or 19 ish.
Isnt 100 at 13.8 kind of slow for that? Id be scared to check compression now, cause it would be kind of scary compression getting bad at only 6k miles.

I do know on my 13.8 pass, my 1-2 shift was ok, 2-3 was awesome, and 3-4 was effing great.. Shifting can be the diffrence btwn 13.8 and 13.6

05s can trap 104-105 stock. Mine just did 104 (13.1), but others have done 105. It requires great conditions, though.
I just want to point that you keep saying you road tuned yourself, but then you said you didn't touch the fuel. Look, if you haven't changed the fuel settings, then you haven't tuned anything. The stock timing is pretty good - it's the stock AFRs that go horrendously rich above 5500rpm, and we are above 5500rpm the entire time on the drag strip. Likewise, you keep referring to the boost or whatever, but you don't realize that EcuFlash cannot raise the boost. You can reduce SOME of the taper, but what you see on your gauge is not really a good indication of your true boost. You would need to verify it with a MAP sensor. The gauge likely reads high...

Because of LACR's elevation (not as bad as Warrtalon's in Colorado), a slight uphill, and driving against the wind - it has always been notorious for bad times .. With that said there is a correction factor that needs to be applied taken from LACR's website- www.lacr.net ..
Altitude Correction
LACR is 2,710 ft. above sea level.
To figure the altitude factor the formula is as follows:
ET: multiply your et (at LACR) by .97
MPH: multiply your mph (at LACR) by 1.03
This will give you the ET & MPH at sea level.
So with the above calculations with your times - your actually running :
13.483 e.t. @ 101.97 (102) ... Take it for what its worth - but yes do list your mods ...

Well i know you cant be 100% accurate when it comes to just reading off a gauge as you drive, but i tested my gauge with 3 different vacuum pumps and it was right on the money on all 3. meaning all 3 vacuum pumps and my gauge were right on. But as far as self tuning goes, i didnt do fuel, but i was still able to pick up some timing toward top end. 1-2 to no counts of knock on 91. And see some guys just said they trap 105 with a stock evo 8. I know it might have been a bit humid, but it was nice and cool. Humidity could not have been over 60%. The only thing i can think of, is i am using the NGK BPR7ES plugs rather then the stock iridums. You guys dont think that could be it? Gapped at .28 no misfires at all.
