Japanese drag evo's?

I was just looking through the jondemand photos from thier trip to Tskuba Circuit and thought to myslef, the Japanese are known for thier time attack cars but, I have never heard of too many drag evo's coming out of Japan. I was wondering if anyone knew of any and if so do you have any links to check them out.

I lived overseas for six years... from what I remember

Dragging was a big thing over there too... BUT I really dont remember see it done at the tracks though (most events Ive seen at the tracks were timed events)

Usually dragging was done illegaly on the str33ts in special locations, (some were somewhat organized by the men in black.. hint hint) from the big boys to the little boys showed up.

More spectators than at a baseball game

Maybe someone else can chime in... someone from teh mainland side

Didnt someone from Japan bring a 1000 hp GTR drag car to Cali a few years back?

I also haven't seen many drag Evo's coming out of Japan. I'm assuming its because the drag car of choice in Japan is probably GODZILLA a.k.a. the GTR.

Hey, never heard of the Evo 6 but I have got a DVD which has a couple of drag evo on it. The fastest one that I know of is the HKS Evo 4 which ran 10 flats, There was also a couple of older evos (E1-3) which ran low 10's and they were all 2L with 3240 turbos. But apart from that I have never heard of any other evos coming out of Japan. Also I think the JUN Evo 5 did 10's aswell?.

A bit old, though:

^ scroll to the bottom of the page. I think it ran like 9.040 and 260.4km/h = 162.75mph over 400m (~1/4mile) on street radial tyres. 1100hp though, so quite reapectable.

For some reason, at a couple of events, it ran 9.028 and cam 3rd. Wonder what the other cars were doing. Probably that HKS monster was there too.

I seem to get the impression they were really into it a few years back and not drifting has taken over.
