Fastest non-EVO Lancer?

I'm sure there probably aren't too many people building up non-EVO Lancers to drag race, but I was wondering if anyone happened to know the 1/4 record? I saw on RRM's page that they supposedly have the fastest w/ a 12.93 time. Does anyone know if that is the actual record?

12.93 is definitely not the fastest, but it's damn fast. Check in the Lancer-specific forums above, or do a quick search in this sub-forum for regular Lancers. As you probably already found, it's hard to search for that, because there's not a good keyword to use. I thought the guy who hit low 12s had an RRM turbo kit, so it would be surprising that they'd tell you that 12.93 was the quickest.

Yeah, if you go on their website it's on there, it's a yellow lancer with the caption below it; It says their shop car is the fastest in the 50 states with that time. If anyone happens to see evidence of a faster one, let me know. It definitely is fast, but if I'm going to spend the money on the turbo and other mods, I want it to go faster than 12.93. Any help on that would be appreciated too. Thanks.

Well, don't get confused between "fastest" and "quickest." What you're saying is that 12.93 is the QUICKEST. That doesn't tell us how fast the car is. A 12.93 in a FWD Lancer could be with 103-104mph on slicks and driven beautifully, or it could mean 114-115mph on street tires with a 2.6 60'. The first example is very quick, but not that fast, whereas the second example is VERY FAST.

So, are you interested in being quick or fast (primarily)?

Well, I definitely want a quicker time than 12.93, but I'm primarily interested in being fast over quick, if that makes any sense. I definitely appreciate the interest in helping me so far.

I think Omar hit lower times than that. Also I don't think the RRM site has been updated in regards to the drag car in a while, they're probably faster and quicker now. If you want to do the same you'll need really deep pockets.

I'm planning on putting most of the parts in myself or with help, my friend just turboed his Tiburon and we've learned a lot from that experience. Not all the parts really need to be new either, if I can do it with slightly used parts that's awesome. I saw a turbo kit for sale on the classifieds but I obviously can't purchase anything on there yet. So I guess the main one I was considering was the RRM stage 2 kit. Any suggestions would be awesome.

A 12 second lancer would cost an easy 10k$.

Is Omar someone that's on this forum? If so, does anyone know how much he spent on his, and what he has done to it?

the 12.93 was WAY before RRM even built the motor...and was done on stock internals, and was basically a bolt on stage 2 kit with LSD...IIRC...

RRM now has a built motor, cams, etc, etc, and theres another yellow lancer getting built in socal that im sure will break the 12.93 mark...

MovadoMan, you don't have to reach 50 posts to buy something. You just can't post in that forum. There's nothing stopping you from sending the person a PM...

We don't have to get into the whole issue (believe me, it can happen in a hurry and with a vengeance), but the money you're thinking of dropping on this Lancer could better be used to actually get an Evo and run just as fast on a car that was already built to go fast. I know it's easier said than done and that insurance is much different, but there should be a cutoff at which you say, "Hmm, for this much cash, I should just get a used Evo and spend $2k to go mid 11s while also being able to run down supercars on the road course."
