Iv done this exact race about 10 times, this is what happens.

A bone stock Evo 9 MR Vs. 03/04 Cobra intake, exhaust. From a 25 or 45 roll, the Cobra will pull 2-4 lengths by 120.

A Evo 9 MR with, TBE, Intake, @21psi, tune Vs. 03/04 Cobra with intake, exhaust. From 25 or 45, the Evo will pull 2-3 cars by 120.

A 03/04 with a ported blower, running 2-3 more psi than stock & tuned will pull 3-4 + lengths in a 25-130 roll

100 octane is "race gas." You don't need a new tune, though one would optimize the situation (not by much, but it wouldn't hurt, maybe 10 whp at most). Just add the 100 octane and turn it up to 27psi on an VIII turbo w/ 10.5 hotside or 29psi on a IX turbo. Datalog if you can, see if you're knocking at all; if so take it down a couple psi accordingly...

For reference when i had my stock 2005 turbo and added 100 octane i turned up boost to 25 psi and wasn't knocking, so i turned it up to 27 psi and still didn't get any knock counts, but at that point i knew the turbo was out of its' efficiency range. On 93 octane i was getting knock counts as high as 8 in 4th; so as you can see, 100 oct. gives you quite a big buffer.

o sorry i thouht race gas was like 116oct.

im on an 8 turbo with ported 10.5 hotside. i have a wideband and egt gauge plus i can data log. so i will fill it up with 100oct see if i can get a flash for it and do some logs.

Yup, you got it about right. But remember, you don't HAVE to get a new tune, i never did when i ran 100 octane and 27 psi w/ no knock counts.

..Just means i left some power on the table.

Bah, hate when people do this.

Running some race gas and raising the boost will work like a charm. We're talking 20-40whp depending on where the boost is currently. You don't have to get retuned just to add race gas and raise boost.

ok well like i said im on 93 oct and i run 23 psi now.

even though a retune or reflash is not needed as you say i would think it would help though but is not needed.

what is your opinion on raising the boost upto.

There really is no boost limit on the stock turbo when on race gas. Run whatever boost you're comfortable with...

Cams my friend, CAMS. If you can get some cash together in time i would invest. And befor you do the pulls.......Make sure you are the one doing the honking to initate that race. Each time you do it at every mph, 20,40, and so on. Get to the desired mph and just roll there for a bit let that roots blower get as heat soaked as possible. Because its proven! dyno run after dyno run, roots type super charged cars lose power run after run because they get so damn hot. So do this and hopefully it will help a bit. Especially if you do all the roll races in a row!!

Not putting a pulley on a cobra is like not putting a MBC on a EVO he is missing out on big HP for practically nothing

For a guy who acts like he knows everything I hope thats your unpleasent sarcasim.

Efficeint power is not made on whatever boost you want. Especially if you are only running 100 octane. Listen to KOevo, sounds like he knows whats up when it comes to 100 octane and boost settings.

if u really wanna know if you have a chance go on the cobra forums and do some research. we own evos, we know what your car is capable of. not his.
