i somehow convince my gf to come to moroso for the test and tune. i hoped it would be empty and i was right. i got 11 runs in with still an hour left, which i could have gone another 20+ times since there were about 8-10 cars left that we're just going at it.

i was there mainly to practice doing some tuning.

my first run was an 112.1 trap with 26 pounds of boost, about 13 timing and 10.1 a/f, 0 knock


when i left i got up to 116.7 with 26 pounds, about 20 counts of timing and 10.7 a/f, 0 knock

as you can see theres still plenty of room left

i couldn't get any traction, but i wasn't really concerned. i had fun pretending to be a pro tuner =-p

Damn 11runs, the first wednesday I dont go in 3 weeks the place is a ghost town.

 

Looks like it's running pretty good, even though some power is definately being left on the table. Baby steps though....baby steps...

 

what do you mean knock? (maybe im retarded)

 

knock happens when the motor is at harm.. its a way of moniter how at harm it is..

up to 10 isn't too bad but usually a tuner wants to try to keep knock count at 0's and 1's.

to prevent knock the ecu will pull timing to prevent the knock, the bad part of that is timing = power.

spend a couple hours reading ecuflash and youll become a pro. i had no tuning experience until a couple months ago. now im pretty confident. the next step for me will be learning how to tune for cams to make a smoother idle.

sorry to hog up the thread, but when you say knock, u mean your engine is making a knocking sound? and what u mean by 10s? is that what its measered?

 

means the motor isn't running smooth and proper how it should..if its that bad it could make a sound... if the knock is that bad itll be followed by a big bang, which is the motor blowing up.

i dont know what it goes up to... but i've seen a log where a guys meth cut out and he knocked a little over 40 and his motor went.
