Tire pressure??

Hey guys is 20psi a good tire pressure to run when drag racing??
And do you lower all four tires?? ....That's how I run my tires is this ok??
And when I race drag I turn up the boost controller to 26/27psi....(racegas)
THANKS,,,,,,,

You need 60 psi in all tires except the R/R, that one you want 100 psi in for better traction. I would think 40psi would be a better start for racegas. So crank up the boost.

O.K., enough wise cracks. Why not start right around 30-32psi and see how they grab there first? I think getting the launching technique down is the 1st and foremost thing and then if you want to work on hooking better or a little less tire spin then go from there. As far as the boost I'm assuming that's the spike and you're prob. at what 22 or so by taper? I guess if you're tuned for it, or for that matter even if you're not tuned exactly for that high of boost, but you're not showing knock using some sort of logging software then you're probably o.k. I however would not ever just crank it up there even on race gas without making sure the knock counts were down or the a/f wasn't uber lean. It's your car and your call. These are merely conservative(wise) suggestions of course, but good luck.

I run about 20psi all the way around... just depends on tires, lauch technique, track, tires, etc. run with what you feel comfortable with. make a few runs with different pressures see which one gives you fastest overall.

Ok then I was running the right pressure!! My 60 are good for now 1.6-17's
I just need to get new tires The front are really bald,,,
I just assumed that lowering the tire pressure that low that I will loose some MPH.....

well lowering tire pressures will lower your MPH... but my 60' times are a lot faster then the cars in my class... so I don't mine losing a few mph at the end.

no lower then 16psi is good. There are some little tricks on the psi for front and back that will allow you to get better grip. It also depends if your a true racer or not. How deep does the pocket go. It has never lowered my mph.

I do 18psi in the front because that is where all the weight is. In the back I drop them between 15-16psi because there is not much weight back there as oppsed to the front, so it balances the car out.

ı use 28-29 psi with potenza in tarmac position but in gravel or snow position 32-32 is best ı thing but dont forget weather position.

Ive never had any luck with running a regular radial tire at anything below 25psi. Anything lower and the tires start to deform.

I drop the fronts to 25 and leave the rears alone since my rears never spin, just the fronts.

this setup has netted me a few 1.61x 60's on the stock tires and clutch.

You must have a really well prepped track. Even with the pressure on mine dropped to 24psi I still spin bad!

Have you ever done a burn out to heat up the tires? This is a must for low 60's
