So S4k04, I assume that by your post name your S4 is equipped with K04's? Got any good details on 1/4 mile runs for us EVO owners...maybe some scans for us to look at or something? Maybe in the mid-high 12's possibly?

If you have invested in K04's then you probably have somewhere between $6000-8000 invested in your car......maybe more?

Alternatively a tuner like AMS out of Chicago has invested probably less than $3500 in their EVO and is pushing 353whp and timeslips of 12.00 flat in the 1/4 mile. Just saw another guy post 390whp numbers tonight. High 11's are right around the corner...on one (1) stock turbo no less!

I don't recall seeing too many mid twelve second S4's out there running stock turbos? As far as an 11 second S4 running stock turbos....well no point in even going there really.

Displacement is a nice thing, but not the end-all.
It does help push excellent high speed performance numbers thats for sure, and EVO owners should avoid run-ins with S4's at high speeds.

S4's are great automobiles, but stock for stock, or dollar for dollar mods, the EVO will net the best performance results. Suspension, handling and braking are a "no contest" win for the EVO as well.

The interior fit and finish is where the EVO gets clobbered by the S4. The S4 is truly a hyper-fast luxury automobile that deserves the respect due in its class. Having been there & done that with two S4's though, I'll take the hard-core nature of the EVO any day!

S4 and Evo are in different classes, S4 being the more luxury... evo being the more sport.... $ for $ mods? goto europe and then talk about $ for $ mods since bringing stuff over the pond costs big $$$ and some companys just charge up the ****. stock for stock turbos? what kind of turbo is the evo running? hmmm k04? haha those **** are tiny put a evo turbo on a S4 or the other way around and i beat the S4 will walk over the evo. Im pretty sure the evo has a bigger turbo than the S4.... single is better than 2
$ to $ mods?? srt4 has way cheaper mods but that doesnt mean its better than EVERYTHING...
Name wise Audi has a better name and prestige. Quality? Audi is german, Mitsu is jap. Japanese cars are known to last but mitsu isnt that popular....
point in case is even if you have the fastest Srt4 or evo its still a mitsu or a DODGE etc.....
btw a ko4 swap on a S4 doesnt cost 6 to 8g's buddy

Bringing mods "across the pond" is just as expensive for the EVO. Unfortunately parts will always be more expensive for the German sports sedans/coupes...its just the way it is when you buy an expensive car like a BMW, Porsche, or Audi.
As far as factory turbo spec think about it.....the S4 is engineered with two smaller turbo's from the factory to enhance drivability and minimize boost lag. It does exactly what it is supposed to do.The car is meant to provide great performance in a very linear fashion to ensure owners can still enjoy the luxury sport sedan part of the driving experience.

The EVO has one larger turbo, and does experience more lag than a stock S4.Drivability is still pretty decent, but not as civilized as the S4 thats for sure. The bottom line is that each of these cars is excellent in its own rights, but they are what they are from the factory.

I don't dislike the S4 by any stretch of the imagination, its just that stock for stock an EVO will hammer an S4. Its not the EVO's fault Audi decided to put such tiny turbos on the S4's. Mod for mod $$ the EVO will stay ahead.

There may be some quick S4's out there and I would never dispute that fact, but at the end of the day my money will still be on the EVO.

BTW- As far as my comments on K04 upgrade costs,it was made with consideration for the total parts package most would invest in to bring an S4 to the stage 3/4 level.

Obviously if you are talking turbo's alone, then yes the cost would be dramatically lower. if you cheaped-out and didn't add DP's/race cats, or sport intercoolers you might be able to keep the basic kit costs down around $4000....maybe.

Considering the trouble involved in putting a set of turbo's on an S4, most folks typically upgrade the I/C's while they have the car torn apart. Even if you don't add the sport I/C's, a decent set of stainless DP/racecats alone will add another $1,900 bringing you costs up to the $6500 range. Adding the I/C's pushes the cost over $8000.Oh yeah, almost forgot, better throw in another $250-300 for 2 DV's while your'e at it.

Even the cheap test-pipe equipped K04 kits TAP used to sell with the droning Scorpion exhaust, and sport I/C's used to run $6,895 a couple of years back.

Anyway thought I would qualify my K04 upgrade cost comments.

As in a reprogrammed ECU "chip". Popular among the Euro tuning crowd.

There is a replacement for displacement. It's called BOOST!! AS for the video. Anything is possible with money. And the comment about the driver being indian was stupid. I have a few middle eastern friends, and a few african american friends who are hella good drag racers. It's called practice, not SKIN TONE!!

Hey you can say what you like. but all i know is i beat both the bi turbo s4 and the equivalent new s4 4.2l v8 in the new a6. And my evo is bone stock. so you can go on with yourself and your comparisons and all....but also the bottomline is that all the car magazines that have tested both cars show that the evo is faster. just so you know

on a side point i always wanted an s4 they just costed more than i was willing to spend right out of college. yet they are sweet cars and my hat comes off to any that owns one.

on a second side point. you could see in that vid, or atleast as i saw it (i could be wrong) that neither car did a good launch. yet in all the races the s4 did a better launch...makes a big difference... plus it looked like the lancer driver was scared...he kept hitting his brakes

that S4 was rather quick....but I figure the Evo was bone stock. Add some mods to the Evo and things change, quickly....

S4KO4 what the hell you are talking about man. are you sleeping ??? an S4 will not keep up with the EVO no way. First of all the s4 best number from 0 to 60 (cus I had one) 5.4. Last week at the track my 52 years old father who used to drive F1 cars in italy managed 4.8 on my EVO from the third try. All that and we are not talking about QM which is about 14.6 for the stock S4 and 13.3 for a stock EVO. dude with an APR chip for my S4 i got like 60 HP to the wheels so are so sue that this car was not moded ( my father is 52 and he fu***ki looks indian and he have 325 WHP passat. Since when can you tell if the car is moded from the look???? dude you will need alot to learn about cars.
