Not sure why this got moved to the drag forum instead of the trash bin. He obviously is not hitting 155 at the drag strip.

why would this need to be moved to the trash bin? is that because you dont find it useful.. well stfu if you dont like it man. its a legit question about whether or not anyone gets belt slip at those speeds. it belongs in the general forum because it is a general question.

just for the record we will say this took place on a road course and i have my laptop hooked up at the track.. so drag racing would be the wrong forum.. and so would the road racing forum since im not asking a question about either.. im asking a question about the mechanics of this vehicle at speed.

I have had a similar experience, it was not the belt, it was the windshield seal, had front windshield replaced and the trim was not "locked" down, snapped in, this was on an airstrip of course.

that looks like it is most likely where that little sound came from.. its not snapped in tight, and it makes logical sense that with that wind resistance it would cause a high speed vibration to sound like a squeal..

thanks for the help man.

Check your driver side mirror where it bolts to the door...I bet you money it sticks out farther then your passenger mirror. At around 145 I get a lovely sound from wind getting caught in the gap between the mirror and the door. Almost every Evo I have seen (at least on the IX) has the same problem. Try a run with the windows down and I bet you won't get the sound.

BTW - I've hit 165 mph at 7700 rpm (5 speed).
