any experience belt slip at speeds over 150mph?

had a chance to stretch the legs on my ix this morning but when approaching 155mph i hear what sounded like belt squeal. it wasnt constant, it happened quickly, and in two short squeals then i let off. anyone else ever experience anything like this?

well, cant tell you for sure, but the speedo was over 150 and closing on 155 before i let off. could be the speedo is inaccurate compared to the computer.

He can do it because the car is not electronically limited to any speed. It'll go as fast as the engine will allow.

apparently the evo is redline limited to 157 for the 5 speed (which is what i have).

the noise sounded like the belt slipping, but i dont know for sure and would like to know if anyone else who has taken their evo up to those speeds if you heard any out of place sound. ive had other cars that i ran up close to that speed and i could smell the belt burning slightly although there was no squeal.

i havent made any claims to where this took place, and have not made any inclinations that it was someplace that this would be illegal. of course i wouldnt do something like that.

how long did it take? it actually got up there rather quickly. faster than my 03 svt lightning i recently traded in for my ix. i wasnt really paying attention but id say from 80mph and putting my foot down in 5th it was certainly less than a mile. dont remember really as i was paying more attention to the guy in the vette (i think it was a 96') i was getting ready to pass.

It does not take that long at all to get up to those speeds. I have gone faster than that in my car and I did not hear anything but the exhaust.
