I got mine to do 145-150 with a good bit of room. The EGT's seemed to get very high at that speed so I backed off. I'm talking maybe 1600+ F! The highest I've ever seen in the car.

Anyone ever do a real top speed test on a dyno? I know most are only rated to about 160ish.

By how much are the speedos off when you reach high speeds? Are they accurate or not?

The fastest I've went according to my speedometer was 180mph at 7000rpm in 5th gear.

did 143 last weekend with the sunroof open and front windows, didnt think about closing them because it was a "fast situation" but i ended the pull when i heard a wierd noise which ended up being my passenger splash shield coming off and hitting my tire melting and throwing melted plastic everywhere!

I wouldnt do a top speed run on the dyno. A lot of your drivetrain parts aren't getting the normal amount of air (cooling) they normally would on the road when going that fast.

OT, 155+, but theres no where to do it safe around here anymore.

Im kind of confused at how some guys can do all these different speeds a 7000 rmps in 5th gear (not talking about 6 speed only 5). I know that not every car will do the exact same as another but im seeing some big gaps here. My first Evo I had to 154 at 7000 rpms racing a Z28 Camaro and I backed out because my rpms were so high and well new motors are expensive. My current Evo I have had to 145 when I was racing somone. Both Evos I owned were both 03 and on stock turbo.

Approx 130 in the evo, a tick under 160 in the vette.

Vette is much more confident at those speed for obvious reasons.

tire wear, and how off ur speedo is....

I have 255/45/17.... brand new in 5th gear at 8000 i "should" do 185mph...

the most i've done was 172 according to the gps... at 160 on the gps my speed read 170....

with the stock size tires i did 145 according to the gps and the speed read about 152.

after 130 the speedo seems to read quite a bit off...

I wish the IX 5sp had a taller 5th. Cruising down the highway would be much nicer.

In any case, my 35R powered 2g was up to 140, the evo has only gone 125 under my power. The 2g would have gone much faster if I had a better place to do it (and the evo if I had a top speed ring).

idk i kinda like crusing at almost 4k at 80... floor it and ur at full boost instant, no need to downshift everytime to pass a car....

175 is very hard, you'll need a long road and it's definitely over the red line is the possible 7,800 range.. But that guy that said he had the windows open was on crack.. I don't believe that for a second.. No matter what power you have you're limited to the gear ratio of that transmission and aerodynamics. My best was 168. and I fought long and hard for those last 2 mphs.. maybe even half a mile simply ran out of road.I think 173 is the limit on this car without any modifications to the exterior and on stock transmission.

@ 80mph on 6th gear I am at or around 3250-3300 rpms. The highest I've gone so far is 135mph or so. I really don't have access to a long track like some of you guys.
