Thanks again for all your comments guys. I take the good with the bad and just try to improve. I want to run at Atco on a "test/tune" night and see how I do there. I was just excited that my first run ever was in a (high) 12 sec. car. When I had my RSX it was a big deal to get into the twelves for obvious reasons.

^^ This about sum's it up.
Let's just say you weren't making 325whp that day.

Good job on your first time out. You'll only get better.

don't listen to what any of the haters say, especially warlton.
Many different things can effect your MPH from the type of gas you run to where you are shifting to the weather. The fact is your ET's were excellent for that trap speed and considering this was your VERY first time racing I would say you're a superb driver.

Dyno numbers don't really mean anything, they are just numbers after all. the time slip tells the whole story of how much power you make & how well you use that power. With better weather and more practice those times will continue to drop, keep it up.

Well that just put a big smile on my face You brought up when I was shifting as a possible issue. I was wondering when I should shift because according to my dyno sheet I start losing power after about 6k or so. Should I still wind it out to around 8k or stop at my peak horsepower?

just because the driving was good doesn't mean there's a lot of missing power. With his driving skill this should be a low 12-second car. There's no hating in my posts, I truly believe he is losing power somewhere and want to see him find the issue so he can nail those lower times.

Again I do appreciate your comments and suggestions. I just couldn't figure out which of the two it was, Driver skill or Power. I'm getting opinions saying either one. I personally thought it was the weather just because I thought I ran pretty well and like stated before my tune was only done a week before. I topped the tank off with Sunoco 93 gas and changed my oil on Friday using Mobil 1 10W-30 and a Mobile 1 filter. I was going to use 5W-30 but accidently bought the wrong oil and had already drained it out of the car. It was still fully synthetic so I didn't worry about it.

Import Junky,
It sounds like you did a great job for your first time out. Unfortunately between racing the drag car and talking to everyone, I didn't get to see any of your runs or anyone elses for that matter.

All things considering (experience, track conditions, horrible horrible weather conditions), those numbers are nothing to be ashamed of. I have no doubts that with more experience and better conditions, your next time out will be much faster.

Regards,
Eric

Thanks man. Not that it means anything or shows you any different but I linked My 1st/3rd runs on my first post. My friend missed the second run.

102 degrees and 98% humidity is what I heard..This was my first time out with a new setup, and I was trapping 4-5mph slower then before I had cams..Has anyone else seen this type of power loss or what??I need to know if there is something wrong with my car or my tune..BTW my air intake temps were up to 130 degrees!!!

shifting @ 8k would greatly effect your trap speed, thats too high. w/o cams you should shift no later then 7k RPM. that way, by the time your eyes see 7k RPM on the tach, and your brain tells your hands & feet what to do you're right @ 7.2K RPM. Try that next time and see what happens.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try that next time. And to the rest of you I appreciate the feedback. Can't wait to get back out there.

My traps were down about 7 mph. Test your setup again when the weather is better .
