$500ish for labor + installing the piece into the tranny + the gear = not worth it to me unless you need a tranny rebuild for some reason or another.

Check out shep trans, 895 for the tranny build and 350 extra for the evo 8 3rd and 4th gears into the 9 tranny, of course labor for the install is extra. Well worth it for drag racing considering all the fastest cars run his tranny. Plus your talkin 130ish in 4th at 8k vs 122ish, its a big differance at the track.

Dan (aka Buschwacker Transmission) at Buschur Racing did my tranny. I'd go there

I'm doing some work on a good friend's IX RS. This is my first real work on an EVO coming from DSMs.

Long story short, we are hitting the limiter through the traps with 107 mph trap speeds on the slip. Log shows we are reaching 116 mph as indicated by the speed sensor.

The guy I quoted above says with the limiter at "like" 7800, he is seeing 116.5 mph traps. I don't see 200 rpm getting us 10 mph. I think he is seeing 116 mph in his log.

Can anyone help clarify?

2006 EVO IX RS
MBC @ 23, Megan test pipe, 4" K&N with adapter. 93 octane. 12.3 @ 107 1.71 60' time.

116 Seems right for that limiter on a 9, you guys getting other speeds with the same limiter might want to look at the tire diameter you're using compared to other cars on the stock 9 gearbox

116 on a log or 116 mph trap on a time slip? What limiter are you saying 116 is right for?

This car has stock tires.

So, 107 mph traps is about right for a stock limiter EVO IX? No one is getting 116 mph traps with a 7800 rpm limiter on a stock tranny/tire IX.

I guess I'll just raise the limiter to like 8200 to get me by for a while. We don't intend to change the mod level for a little while. Maybe we can tune a couple more mph out of it.

Mine isn't raised and when I don't shift I trap 112-113 bouncing of it, stock tires and wheels.

I have a question, im running AEM EMS, and if i wanted to go and raise my rev limit in like 3rd and 4th gear, would that mean the whole tune would need to be altered? or its as simple as just rasing it as high as i want?

When Rolo tuned my car he carried all the variables to 8500 even though at the time we only had the limiter set to 7800. Look at the map in the ecu and you car see if he carried it out to 8500.

So, we have two EVO IXs with stock tires/wheels with a 5 mph discrepancy.

What is different?

The car I'm working on is all stock except for a MBC, Test Pipe and filter. Stock tranny, wheels, tires, clutch, etc...

I saw someone talking about this being caused by a slipping clutch. I don't *think* the clutch is slipping, but it could be.

It could also be the track timing system I guess. 107.8 does seem low for a 12.30 E.T. even with a 1.71 60' time.

That does seem really low for a 12.3 esp with that 60ft. I'd like to see that car run again just to be sure.
