First time out this season, new best trap

Went out tonite for the first time with the 3065 turbo and exedy twin. First pass I bogged it bad off the line and pulled a 12.3@120mph. Second pass I raised the two step, totally blew the tires off thru first and pulled a 12.0@120mph. Third pass I bogged and missed a gear, so basically a wash. Overall I am pleased with the car, just need to get used to the bigger turbo and twin disk clutch. I feel I learned alot though tonight. Never messed with tire pressure, I am sure taking some air out will help a ton, but was more interested in getting a feel for the car with this setup.

Mods are:

Stock engine (bottom end, head and cams)
stock ecu and mass air
BR3065 cast mani kit
BR air filter
Dejon 4" intake pipe
BR uicp w/ tial bov
BR Deluxe fmic
BR TBE
880 injectors
255pump
exedy twin no restrictor and stainless line
buschur inline mbc
pump 93

great trap speed for a 100% stock engine.

120mph should be good for an 11.5 on a perfect run.

How much boost are you running?

Those two runs were 25psi, 11.2AFR tapering to 10.9 at redline. I turned the boost up to 27psi and lowered timing, but bogged the launch and missed a gear on the third run. On the way home the car felt much stronger at the higher boost level. I ordered a set of Kelford 272 cams, so I am hoping they will pick me up a couple more mph. I would love to do 125mph on pump, thats the goal.

thats great man!

your trap is where it should be... First time out with my tubular 3065 i has some knocking issues at the track and the car was trapping 116 and couldn't do anything due to dead battery on my laptop... hoever i managed a 12.007@116 with 1.85 60ft with boost pressure never exceeding 22psi... Since then i changed to a ebc that keeps boost pressure way better than the mbc...

Do you want to share your full 12.0 pass timeslip? I would love to see another 3065 on pump analysis...

Also did you log the car? what load were you hitting with 25 or 27psi? I think that was my problem... Because the car couldn't raise my 23-24psi tuned and it was only getting 20-22psi, my load values were low and the car had more timing there thus knocking...

1/8ET - 7.9
1/8mph - Didnt show up, but I am gonna say 96-97mph based off the first pass

Thats a pritty good run considering the new set up. Your 60ft though isn't good. My RA cuts lower 60fts. But like you said you were bogging which doens't help at all. I am glad to here it when people like their car set ups. Shows they got something they really wanted. Good luck in the future.

Here is the slip, I am at work so no scanner..

Reaction - 9.578
60' - 2.0327
330' - 5.2999
1/8 ET - 7.9338
1/8MPH - NONE (guessing 96)
1000'ET - 10.1998
1/4ET - 12.0878
1/4MPH - 120.51

As for load, it is anywhere from 300-275 depending on gear/rpm. Alot of knock though, I saw counts of 12 in 4th gear Gonna redo a lil bit of the tune and smooth out the 4th gear knock. At the track it was actually hitting higher load then I normally do on the street, similar to your situation Kouzman. Next time out I hope to have it better in 4th and maybe pickup another mph.

Anyone want to take some guesses on what the whp is? Car showed 440-450 via Evoscan (I am thinking this is somewhat close to a dynojet number). Car is a 6speed MR, no backseat, no front crash bar, mini battery, half tank gas, me (230lb), subwoofer and amp (35-40lb) no wing, AC and PS and power windows all intact, front doors dynomatted.

Thanks

SQ

Thanks mate!

Looks like a very good trap. My pass was

rt 0.918
60ft 1.849
330ft 5.102
1/8 7.786
mph 90.03
1000ft 10.091
1/4 12.007
mph 116.00

had better times until the 1000ft mark but no power in 4th gear....

My load never exceeded 270 (!!!) and i was in the range 270-240 during the pass which also shows that the car didn't have any decent boost... Actually on the street i see higher boost than at the track. Now i changed my mbc with the Gizzmo ebc which regulates boost much much better. I dial the duty cycle, run closed loop and the boost stays solid! very impressed...

I only had knock in 4th gear which actually had a strange pattern... 55554444333322221111000 as rpm were rising and i could really feel the car to become very tight... also what i noted was the very high timing since the car was hitting much lower load values which i guess created the knock... Timing was picking at 18 degrees which was crazy high for 93 octane but the car had boost that didn't exceed 22psi... How much timing are you running up top on pump?

Ohhh, i weighted the car at 3404 lbs with me in it and 1/4 gas tank. The car is lighter due to Kosei rims, baer 2-piece rotors, no spare tire, small battery kit, nisei piping, test pipe but i still have both crash beams, wing, rear seat, insulation, trunk cage and i weight 265lbs... i guess i could remove another 70-80 lbs with ease...

here's the video:

i am very happy that i can share experiences with someone with similar setup!

Thanks again!
