Very confused about my times???

Last year my fastest ET was 12.5 @ 109 or 110. It was one of those. This was with my tbe, old mbc, ACT clutch, and light flywheel. I was on 104 octane and not tuned for anything. I think boost was was at 24 psi.

So far this year, my fastest ET is 12.8 @ 107. Same mods w/ the addition of a better mbc that holds boost better, fuel pump, intake, and tuned by Shameless. Still 24 psi and on 93 octane.

Last year I launched at 5800. This year at 6000. Last year that one pass was on 104 octane but I wasn't tuned for it. The only reason I ran it was because I ran out of gas at the track.

My driving style has not changed either. I pull my typical 1.8 60'. My shifting hasn't changed. I rev to 7600.

Besides the race gas from last year, the only thing I can think of is that my clutch was fresher last year. It doesn't slip and still grabs hard though.

Any input, thoughts, or suggestions is invited. Thanks.

I can't find my slip from last year, but here is the one from today.

60' 1.821
330 5.277
1/8 8.208
mph 83.48
1000 10.732
1/4 12.870
mph 107.27

You don't have to be tuned for 104 to make more power - running more boost than normal for pump gas on an VIII can get you good power on race gas. Back at sea level on basically the mods you listed, I would run a mix of 93/104 at the drag strip all the time - I hit 12.0s and 113, but on 93 it was 12.2s and 110. I wasn't tuned for race gas and only had a base flash, but I did remove fuel with my SAFC. The bigger gains were from the 24psi instead of 21 on pump.

Weather conditions can make a difference, too.

Well if I remember correctly, the weather was fairly cool last year. It was the last day of the season. So maybe around 65-70. Today it was maybe 70-75. With a good side wind. It was raining on and off all day.

I'm tuned on 93 now. But I might go back down next weekend and do a couple more passes. See how it goes and then maybe mix in a little 104 again and see what that does.

Is the 12.8 a respectful time with my mods? I did manage a high 1.78 60' today with a 12.9 1/4 mile.

Not really. In my 05, I hit 12.80 @ 106.3 with just a self-tuned SAFC - nothing else. That was a 1.76 60'. With almost your exact mods (Megan TBE, Hallman MBC, Walbro 255, K&N drop-in filter, base Dynoflash), I did 12.26 @ 110, but I did have a JDM MR DV and was running 22psi on 93 (much more normal than 24psi for an 05).

If you have more mods and you got a tune but you are slower, could be something up with the car. Do a boost leak test and maybe check the plugs.
