Giving Up

Well, I had troubles last night with my new clutch. I was unable to get it into second gear 3 out of 5 runs. I believe I figured out the problem though. But at this point I am planning on bailing on trying for a 10 sec run. MPH is also way low which tells me I'm losing power. I figure its just best to rebuild now before something drastic happens. The sad news is, I just can't justify a complete rebuild and then install a stock turbo. I have nothing to prove at this point. I have no sponsors and it is costing way too much to make a point. If I'm going to lay out big money for a rebuild, I'm going big and into the 9's. The car to date has posted over 10 11.0-11.1 passes on 400whp/400wtq. Exact numbers were 413/437 Dynojet and 382/399 Mustang(since there is so much debate about TTP's supposed high reading dyno-LOL). The car no doubt could run an easy 10.xx pass with normal power at it's current weight The car will be sent to Buschur shortly and a full build will be done. Here is a video the wife took of the RS' last night out as a stock turbo car. She will sit peacefully in my garage until I finalize the project with DB. This vid is one of the best vids I've seen of the RS and was kind of a mistake with the zooming, but ending up being kind of nice and a tribute to the stock turbo days. Farwell for now...

Congrats on your decision. Hopefully more guys will follow in your footsteps.

I think your first pass out will be in the 9's.

Good luck with your project.

Bryan(sp?), I'm warming your seat up here right now. I just put the coffee on, so if you wait too long, it may be a little scorched. If you'll hurry, we can shoot fireworks off at Davids house.

GEJEN-Thanks, I hope it goes well also.

4kinboost-Thanks for the vote of confidence.

9sec9- That would be nice, but a few weeks looks more realistic Although the wife wants the car there now, which is a good thing We'll talk more via pm....

Turbojunkie- My thought's are HTA35R on a 2.0 aluminum rod motor.

Manny@TopLevelPerformance-Best of luck. I wish tires were my only issue right now. What tires are you planning on and what rim?

RyuEvoIX- you'll never beat me LOL... Just playing, it will be interesting to see what some of these high HP stock turbo IX's end up running. I of course wish you the best of luck.

Lots of big decisions to make now. I so badly want to do a light rebuild and blast out a 10 sec passaway. But in the end, I'll have done all that work to run a 10.60 or whatever. I rather run 9.60

I think you should swap out the rings, do a light hone, get that cylinder pressure back up where you get that 25-35psi back in each cylinder and do it all on the stock motor before biting the bullet.

The downside to buying a tenured IX with 40k on the motor of unknown use and care, is not knowing what kind of hand you have been dealt. You have played your cards well for the hand that you have been dealt thus far in the game of "project secondhand RS"

Patience young Jedi. Rome wasn't built in an hour.

I figure in about a day, a new headgasket, rings, honing, reassembly with some arp uprated rod bolts you can do this. Its a matter of having the desire to push through for a unique goal.

I could see this whole refresh project completed for under a grand. In the end I think there would be 40whp or more back in the saddle for you to blast through into the mid 10's with.

My .02c

How long will your motor last?

When you can answer that, we will be on track to answer your question.

You could build your engine like you want, run the stock turbo and get your goal. Then its just a simple turbo kit swap and ur making huge power.

I know I would always look back and wish I gave it one more shot.

Good luck with what you decide.

what do you see as being the problem?

When you go to put it in 1st gear does the car want to roll forward at all?

TTP Engineering- you do it for a grand and I'll bring it up there on Monday I'll bring the little green money bag like I always do 1G CASH MONEY PLAYA LOL....

Manny@TopLevelPerformance-Thanks. You'll get there.

Fathouse- Your partially right and partially wrong Its not that simple as the car will be shipped to Buschur for everything to be completed and tuned at once. Lots of money has been spent on tuning every time I make a change. Scott/TTP has taken over that burden for me which has been so much help, but I don't want to take advantage either. I hear what your saying though. I'll talk with TTP more on this and see what we come up with.

ExViTermini- yes and I think it is just going to be pedal adjustment finesse. We played with it alot and are having getting it to stay put. The pedal stop keeps coming loose under vibration also which screws me up. Its all the little things
