I'm thinking they already started with the PR tracks a few months ago LOL...

Yeah it clearly states Top Fuel and Funny Car only.

They should have at least 1/4 mile run off area at most 1/2 mile run off area. Its not difficult to figure this out . Either lenghten the run off area or dont race there.

I understand completely why they're doing it. And i'm in a way happy that its going to keep the drivers safer. its helping on both aspects, one its not letting them hit as high of a speed, i think they said its going to slow them down 20mph and its giving them another 320 feet for the shut down area.

I think it was 2, maybe 3 years ago when the NHRA decided that it was time to slow the cars down a bit and they went from 90% nitromethane to 85%. Team Castrol (John Force) found the right combo for that fuel during testing and i think was setting some records too.....maybe they should try 80%, that will make the difference to slow them down. I hate to see them go slower as much as everyone else, but it seems like the only option at this point. either that or make a HUGE shut-down area and turn them loose on 90% again and see who can hit 350.....

Longer run-off areas and sand pits are the logical solution. An issue this causes that no one mentions, is the issue of setting record times... Although trivial, they will have to start comparing all new times for FC and TF to the 1000 ft. times of old runs.

maybe im reading wrong but didnt they say they are only making it 1000ft for the top fuel and funny car??? not all vehicles..
Problem is, these two are the premier classes. Every other series has neutered the car(s) when they wanted a bigger safety margin. F-1 went to grooved tires, and constantly change the motor configurations, others have cut down on aero-dynamic aids, but this is the first time that I know of, a sanctioning body changing something so important to what their series is all about. NHRA has always been about the 1/4 mile, and Top-Fuel/Funny Cars have been their premier classes and biggest draw. What are we gonna see..? sub-3-second 1000 ft.? Sneeze, and you're gonna miss the race.
I think messing with the distance of the run(s) should've been the last thing they considered, and it obviously wasn't.

I think that is about stupid. That was probably the only track ive seen with a wall at the end. How logical is that? I understand sand pits can f*ck up your car, but a wall can do much worse and even kill you. I dont know, its just ridiculous.

+1 million That wall at the end just angers me . Its just stupid. Stupid should hurt but not on someone elses stupidity. Over 300MPH and a wall at the end . I understand it was built so many years back but no one has looked at the 300MPH speeds since? Someone should go to jail for involentary man slaughter. Ok Im done venting

I think E-Town is partially to blame. They own all that land beyond the sand pit and yet it never occured to them to lengthen the track, and to put up a freakin Jersey barrier? I quess theyre too busy adding road race and dirt bike tracks. The real blame falls on the NHRA who should of known better, and made sure the facilities were brought up to spec.
