We put a Ford rear end in the car over winter with a four link suspension, that's what we are trying to sort out. With the AWD it is harder to make work than if the car was just a 2wd. We'll get it sooner or later, we are hoping trying to do it down on power will make it easier to get a grip on how it works.

My brother, Daniel, found that our turbo was damaged when it came off anyway, so it was a good thing we pulled it and probably part of the reason we haven't set the world on fire in our two only outings with the car. The turbine wheel was hitting the housing pretty hard.

Robert at Forced Performance sent me an HTA88, which is his new billet compressor wheel on a P-trim turbine wheel.

The turbo was as laggy as the GT42 and was down 250 whp. Not what I was hoping for. We had a smaller turbine housing shipped overnight to us and ran the car again today. Still not much better for spool up.

I put an HTA35r on the car next with a T4 housing and dyno'd the car again. Still not happy with the power or spool up we swapped the HTA88 back on the car and decided to give it a shot.

For reference the car only made 660 whp in 3rd gear on our dyno. Peak boost was only 42 psi.

First pass the tires spun bad. The car still managed a 9.4. Second pass the car bogged, two step was too low.

The third pass we finally got the two step close and Daniel was able to run a 9.24 at 148 mph. When he got back to the trailer he said the car didn't sound right and rather than finishing the run he lifted. We checked everything over and I checked the log, made some minor changes and then we waited 3 hours for our next pass..........

The last pass of the night the car spun hard again causing the suspension to unload and load again. It didn't look too hot. Ends up the pass was better than expected and ran a 9.3 at 158 mph.

Not enough passes to get anything sorted but it sure is a lot easier getting a car down the track with 250 less whp than we had.

I want to try and hit a track rental so we can do some real testing. Work on the suspension and get everything working together.

I'm pretty confident the car would go 8.90's on this turbo at 160 or so.

Fun night at the track and left with everything in one piece.
Nice work David! I hear ya on breaking stuff left and right It just keeps adding up in $$$ with not much return and not much enjoyment with the car. We are going to scale back in turbo size also.

With the drag car you have being lighter weight and the quicker spool of the smaller turbo makes for one reliable and fun car to drive

Understand now david, I just want to see you and somebody else going back and forth exchanging records, I have faith that you have the car to do it

Nice to hear that you are having some fun testing turbo's, if I had cash and time my garage would be stocked with every possible a/r and CHRA combination garret has ever made.....

Hey David, u said u put the HTA 35r on there but went back to the HTA88. What was the difference between the two that made u change back to the HTA88?

Thanks Jordan. I didnt run lastnight, For whatever reason my new Wilson throttle body is sticking and I didnt wanna run it and risk focking something up

I will get back up to Norwalk in 2 weeks. Then the shoot-out

Dan and Dave did a fantasic job with the new set up!!!! Less power and "almost" the same ET... they are doing something right.

That's cool. I can't wait until the shootout! I feel like a kid counting down till Christmas

Heck maybe I'll even make Norwalk in 2 weeks with ya. If my Red comes in and Dave can squeeze me in for a retune by then count me in.

Yeh I can't believe how fast the car is being "down on power". I wish I could be disappointed with 9.3s

Damn, Must have missed this post.. I didnt realize you even ran the car.. I can relate to you being tired of stuff breaking.. Luckily you have 2 cars so you can have fun with 1 always.. I am sure youll get it sorted out soon enough..

I am undecided on building a 3/4 Chassis EVO with a gforce and just been done with breaking drivetrain parts period and run 7's by accident.. I still love my evo, so it looks like ill have to have 2 cars also..

Thanks for putting up the video Jeff, I appreciate you coming out there with us, doing the taping, playing with my daughter and just being my friend. Always a pleasure to have you around.

The car was bouncing around more than I thought it was. That last pass Daniel said it was his fault, we need more runs on the car to see what we can come up with. We'll probably take it out this week. Sure would like to find a track rental going on.

Also, sorry to be kind of secretive on the turbo stuff but I am not willing, at this time, to put any of the information out there publically that we have found. What I am hoping is that through all this we can find a turbo that will put the car into the 8's with the best possible spool up. Myself and Al are working together on this project and when it is done between his testing and ours, we are going to come up with a completely one off custom turbo to offer. That is the goal anyway.

I wish Daniel wouldn't have had to lift off the throttle on that 9.2 pass, that would have been very close to an 8 on this turbo.

It's funny you mention doing that Mike, I do believe Powerglide and turning the engine around in our car came up Friday night too. haha We are 90% of the way there already with the rear end we put in. It would be very easy for us at this point.

Dont do that... I will just trade you my Evo for the black car. You just have to put the bigger turbo back on it like we talked about

You dont have to say thaxs for anything man. I had a great time friday! You and Dan have done so much for me there is no thaxs needed.

Brandon's car could pretty much be a bracket car at this point. It's ran 8's the last 3 times to the track and run consistent 8.9's-9.1's@160+. If a GT42R car is properly setup and has a good driver it can be consistent.
